With three episodes remaining, The Penguin continues to earn praise from both fans and critics. The series is unfolding brilliantly, delving into Penguin’s rise in Gotham following The Batman and spotlighting Sofia Falcone, who has unexpectedly become a major player in the city’s power struggles.
We’ve highlighted Milioti’s standout performance and the sharp writing behind her character, calling her a scene-stealer and one of the show’s strongest elements.
Recently, we reported a rumor that Milioti could return in The Batman: Part II, and now, the same source has shared another update.
While it was already confirmed that Farrell would reprise his role, the latest information suggests Penguin will play a significant part in the highly anticipated sequel to Matt Reeves’ hit film, giving us some hints about what the movie might entail.
The source of this rumor regarding Penguin’s larger role is MyTimeToShineHello, the same outlet that initially reported Sofia Falcone would have a significant role in the sequel.
While MyTimeToShineHello is popular, it has a track record of unreliability, with many of its rumors turning out to be false. So, we recommend taking their claims with a grain of salt. That said, here’s what they shared:

To be fair, we don’t know who Reeves will choose as the main villain for the second movie, but this particular theory feels a bit underwhelming, which is why we’re skeptical.
Yes, Penguin is confirmed to return, and we still don’t know the full direction of Sofia’s character in The Penguin series. However, historically, the crime/mafia elements of Batman’s lore tend to take a backseat as his Rogues Gallery becomes more prominent.
If these rumors are accurate, it would mean Sofia and Penguin are once again the primary villains, which might not be what audiences are hoping for. They were the focus of the series, so it seems unlikely Reeves would repeat that in a shorter, two-to-three-hour format for the film. It just doesn’t seem logical.
While it’s not impossible to include them in The Batman: Part II, giving them central roles feels unnecessary. We already have the Riddler, Catwoman, and the confirmed existence of Joker in Reeves’ universe.
Plus, the current setup strongly hints at Mr. Freeze. So, why would the story shift back to Sofia and Oswald? It doesn’t quite fit, especially since we don’t even know if Sofia survives The Penguin series.
At this point, we don’t know much about the sequel. Beyond Pattinson, the only confirmed returning cast members are Wright, Serkis, and Farrell. We’ll just have to wait and see, but we believe Reeves will want to explore new ground, leaving little room for Sofia and Oswald unless they’re part of a larger story—likely with smaller roles than the rumors suggest.
