Soldier Boy Will Return for Season 5 and Will Join the Cast as a Series Regular

He also offered a glimpse into what’s next for Soldier Boy.

At SDCC, Eric Kripke shared several intriguing updates about The Boys, including details about the final season and Soldier Boy’s pivotal role, which aligns with our earlier predictions. Although Soldier Boy seemed to meet his end at the close of Season 3, both Kripke and Ackles have confirmed that his story will continue, as we’ve previously discussed.

While we anticipated Soldier Boy’s return in Season 4, we didn’t foresee the nature of his reappearance—a brief teaser that set the stage for his more substantial role in Season 5. Kripke elaborated on why Soldier Boy is being retained for the final season, revealing that his motivation to seek revenge against Butcher for his betrayal might also drive him to potentially ally with Homelander.

Given this, it’s clear that Soldier Boy will have a more prominent role in Season 5. Eric Kripke confirmed this by announcing that Ackles’ character will be promoted to a series regular for the upcoming season.

“We can announce to everyone at Comic Con: Soldier Boy will be back as a series regular for season 5. He’s back. The motherfucker’s back.”
