‘Spider-Man 4’ was officially announced to be in development last year, though details remain scarce. What is confirmed is that Tom Holland and Zendaya will reprise their roles, with Destin Daniel Cretton set to direct.
Before the movie’s development was confirmed, rumors suggested it was torn between two directions: a Multiversal storyline continuing from ‘No Way Home’ or a grounded, street-level narrative featuring Daredevil and Kingpin.
After Robert Downey Jr. was confirmed to return to the MCU as Doctor Doom, Marvel Studios reportedly chose to pursue the Multiversal storyline.
If you’ve been keeping up with leaks and scoops, you’re likely aware that a large number of characters are rumored to appear in the upcoming Spider-Man film. These include Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men, Knull, Venom, Spider-Man 2099, and Miles Morales. Reportedly, Sony and Marvel Studios aim to create a movie similar to Deadpool & Wolverine, but substituting Fox legacy characters with Sony’s roster.
A few months ago, Tom Holland revealed that the script was still being worked on. Now, industry insider MyTimeToShineHello reports that the movie is allegedly facing script issues.
MTTSH claims that the ‘Spider-Man 4’ script is undergoing major rewrites, possibly starting from scratch. While Tom Holland supports the current story, Kevin Feige is dissatisfied, resulting in significant delays as the script undergoes a complete overhaul.
The most recent version of the script for Spider-Man 4 is set to undergo a significant rewrites, and may even be scrapped altogether. Apparently, Tom Holland likes the story, but Kevin Feige does not, and they are now rewriting it and changing everything. The script isn’t ready yet and won’t be for a while.
As we’ve mentioned, this isn’t the first time such discussions have come up. There were earlier disagreements about whether the movie would continue the Multiversal storyline or take a street-level approach.
There’s no way to verify these rumors until Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, or Tom Holland provide official comments. The film is currently scheduled for release on July 24, 2026.
