Sony is releasing many different Marvel projects in 2023, and with each new project, we see more connections to Marvel Cinematic Universe. Of course, the post-credit scene in Venom: Let There Be Carnage saw Venom being in the Earth-199999, the same universe Peter Parker’s Spider-Man and the rest of the MCU characters are part of. With the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse coming out soon, we learned that Miles Morales would discover even more versions of Spider-Man who team up to stop an interdimensional threat – The Spot, who appears in Venom’s universe.

The most recent TV spot aired for Vietnam sees The Spot appearing in Mrs. Chen’s convenience store, stealing gum called Venomint, confirming that Venom is indeed acknowledged and part of Sony’s Spider-Verse. Of course, this means that in the future, there is a huge possibility that Sony and Marvel Studios will put both universes in the Avengers: Secret Wars and the second part of the Across the Spider-Verse movie titled Beyond the Spider-Verse, which will see multiple versions of the characters battling against each other to save their respective universes.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse expands even further with every new trailer or TV spot, making this particular movie one of the most important for the future of the Sony and Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s obvious Sony and Marvel Studios are working on something huge “cooked” in the future. It seems that Miles Morales and the rest of the animated characters will appear in the same universe as the live-action Marvel Universe. It’s very exciting, so let’s discuss this topic further.

Will Venom appear in Across the Spider-Verse?

We already discussed The Spot’s villain origins in Marvel Comics in a separate article, where we established that Dr. Johnathon Ohnn is a villain whose powers include teleportation from point A to point B anywhere, and after being exposed to the Spotted Dimension, the Spot becomes the dimension himself.

This means that he can teleport into any universe using the Spotted Dimension and could easily get out of it only if he can determine the portal he first came through. The recent Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse TV spot, designated for the Vietnamese public, reveals more versions of Spider-Men and their dimensions, including the one in which Tom Hardy’s Venom is part of.

On the Marvel website, Venom’s universe, marked as Earth-TRN688, has appeared in the Vietnamese TV spot for the upcoming animated movie, which confirms that Sony’s Venom Universe is part of the Spider-Verse animated universe.

In the TV spot, Spot pops out of the portal in front of Mrs. Chen and steals the chewing gums named Venomint. The whole scene is three seconds long, but it is absolutely hilarious how nothing can phase Mrs. Chen, who has already witnessed strange things in her universe.

Every Universe Confirmed So Far for ‘Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse’

Will Venom appear in the Across the Spider-Verse movie? Most likely not, but it does set the foundation for the possible appearance of live-action Sony characters in the second part of the Across the Spider-Verse movie called Beyond the Spider-Verse. That particular movie will be released in March of 2024, and even the creators admitted they made a two-part movie because there was just too much good content to put in one project.

Nevertheless, this TV spot confirmed that the Venom universe would feature in the Across the Spider-Verse.

Since there is a possibility of Venom or any other Sony live-action Marvel character appearing in the animated franchise, what does this mean for Marvel Cinematic Universe and their future projects? Let’s discuss this topic a bit further.

Will Sony Universe appear in Marvel Cinematic Universe?

We all know that Sony holds the rights to all Spider-Man cinematic and tv projects, and they’ve been negotiating with Marvel Studios for years to let them feature Web-Slinger in Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse: New TV Spot Confirms Venom’s Universe

Since Tom Holland was cast as Spider-Man, it seems that Marvel Studios and Sony made sure their relationship is on good terms because we see more and more hints of Sony’s universe being part of Earth-199999. The first concrete hint came in the post-credit scene of Venom: Let There Be Carnage movie, where we see Venom looking at Tom Holland’s Spider-Man on TV.

This confirmed that Venom is indeed part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in some way, especially after we saw the small part of the symbiote staying on Earth-199999 before Eddie and the symbiote returned to their universe.

With Doctor Strange messing with the Multiverse and characters like Loki, Scarlet Witch, and Kang the Conqueror expanding the concept of the Multiverse even more, we might see Venom, all live-action Spider-Men and all MCU characters in the Secret Wars Avengers movies that will be released in the future.

This might be a bit of wishful thinking, but if there is a direct acknowledgment of MCU’s Doctor Strange and Spider-Man, and Venom in Across the Spider-Verse, we can safely say there is a huge chance that we will see all Marvel characters (from Sony and MCU) featured in Secret Wars.

The second part of Across the Spider-Verse is called Beyond the Spider-Verse, and there will most likely be live-action cameos from Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, with Andrew Garfield, Tobey Maguire, Tom Holland and even Tom Hardy’s Venom possibly appearing in the animated feature.

It is a very exciting time to be a Spider-Man fan, and Across the Spider-Verse could possibly be the best Spider-Man movie ever, and more, the best superhero project by Sony Pictures.
