It seems that Marvel Studios is turning its attention toward animated content, this was in doubt inspired by the overwhelming success of ‘X-Men ’97’ which is still one of the highest-rated Marvel shows.
With ‘Eyes of Wakanda’ in development, ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ and ‘What If…?’ season 3 nearing release, yet another animated show might be in development.
According to industry insider Daniel Richtman ‘Spider-Man: The Animated Series’ might be getting a revival.
This aligns with rumors we’ve covered a few months ago. Marvel Studios is reportedly creating a Marvel animated universe set in the ’90s, starting with ‘X-Men ’97’. There’s a chance for more projects in this universe, with a sequel to ‘Spider-Man: The Animated Series’ being a possible next step. However, this idea is still in the early planning stages.
This ties into something that Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s head of TV mentioned recently about moving to a real studio and exploring many ideas, even if they won’t all get made.
So, reviving Spider-Man’s show doesn’t seem too unlikely, especially since ‘X-Men ’97’ has already been approved for two more seasons. Season 2 is currently being produced, and Season 3 is in early development.
Some recent reports that ‘Spider-Man: Animated Series,’ ‘Iron Man,’ ‘Fantastic Four,’ ‘The Incredible Hulk,’ and ‘Silver Surfer’ share the universe with ‘X-Men ’97’ also support the notion of revival!
