A Quote from ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Hints at a Connection Between ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ and ‘Spider-Man 4’

Spider-Man’s cinematic history is more complex than most Marvel superheroes, primarily because Sony, not Marvel Studios, owns the rights to the character. As a result, the early Spider-Man films were completely separate from the larger MCU. However, once Tom Holland took on the role, Sony and Marvel collaborated to produce three films featuring the young actor.
Sony has also released several films unrelated to the MCU. These films, though not featuring Spider-Man, are part of a broader shared universe. The most prominent series within the SSU is the Venom series, which has remained standalone until now—but that might be about to change.
Our theory, based on the post-credits scene from Spider-Man: No Way Home and recent updates about the MCU’s future, suggests a potential crossover. Keep in mind, that this is just a theory grounded in available information, offering an original perspective rather than definitive facts.
Before diving into our theory, take a moment to watch the post-credits scene from Spider-Man: No Way Home, which inspired the entire concept:
We know that Tom Holland’s actions in No Way Home disrupted the Multiverse, leading to a reunion of all three of Sony’s Spider-Men. Tom Hardy’s cameo as Eddie Brock/Venom was a brilliant Easter egg, highlighting the extent of Holland’s impact—since Brock came from a universe where Spider-Man hadn’t been introduced (yet). This cameo could have significant implications moving forward.
A Spider-Man/Venom crossover seems likely, considering the scene, but Brock was ultimately returned to his own universe. However, Tom Hardy has confirmed that the SSU already has its own Spider-Man, and it’s been speculated that he was referring to Andrew Garfield, who is rumored to appear in the upcoming final Venom movie.
Although Sony is wrapping up the Venom series later this year, that doesn’t mean it’s the last we’ll see of Eddie Brock and Venom. We’ve previously discussed how Doomsday could set up a potential return for both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield if the heroes end up on Battleworld. If the Garfield rumor holds true, Eddie Brock might also make an appearance.
If this theory holds true, the final Venom movie could pave the way for both Hardy and Garfield to join the MCU, with their characters becoming part of the Battleworld storyline.
