‘Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic’ (KOTOR) is a role-playing video game developed by BioWare and published by LucasArts. It was released in 2003, and since then, it’s been lauded as one of the best Star Wars games.

The game is set around 4,000 years before the rise of the Galactic Empire, exploring the earlier years of the ancient Galactic Republic following the events of the “Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi” comics. The game’s backstory revolves around the Mandalorian Wars, a pan-galactic conflict initiated by the Mandalorian warrior society invading the Republic. Despite Jedi reluctance, two renegade Jedi Knights, Revan and Malak, lead a Republic force to war against the Mandalorians. After their victory, Revan and Malak vanish, only to return with a Sith armada, launching an invasion against the Republic. Malak, now Dark Lord of the Sith, continues his aggression, causing Jedi casualties and fracturing their order.

The game received universal acclaim. It won numerous awards, including Game Developers Choice Awards’ 2004 Game of the Year and BAFTA Games Awards’ Best Xbox Game of the Year. GameSpot named it the Best Xbox Game of July 2003 and Best Computer Game of November 2003.

As you can see, if you’re not familiar with the game, it’s pretty good, pretty famous, and pretty much recognized as the best of the best. Now if the most recent rumors are true, the game might be heading toward screen.

According to MyTimeToShineHello, a popular leaker both for Marvel and Star Wars-related content, ‘Knights of the Old Republic’ might be adapted as a show for Disney+.

This is not the first that it’s been rumored that the game is being adapted, so make sure to take it with a grain of salt. The “announcement” was met with colorful reactions. Primarily fans are afraid that it will get the latest “The Force is Female” and “woke” treatment, while the majority of fans is just glad that they finally might see Revan on-screen.
