‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’ Reportedly Not Being Received Well at Lucasfilm, Speculations Arise that It’s Due to Identity Politics

‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ is the most recent installment in the Star Wars franchise, and the show has been extremely controversial. It was both due to its perceived wokeness and due to a staggering lack of quality despite a $180 M budget.

‘The Acolyte’ is also not the only live-action release planned for this year, we also have ‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’ scheduled for late 2024 release according to most recent news.

Now everything has pretty much been quiet on that front with only a few marketing materials for the show released. Fans have been wondering why there does seem to be a lack of promotion for the show, and why it stayed in development for so long.

‘Skeleton Crew’ is supposed to be a coming-of-age story. The series will follow a group of children, most likely Force-sensitive, who will have to go on an adventure if they want to return to their home planet, from which they got lost after a strange discovery. The children will most likely be chaperoned by Jude Law’s character. He will be the one to find the kids and guide them on their adventure, serving as both a guardian and a mentor figure to the youngest characters.

According to most recent insider rumors the show is not being received well internally by Lucasfilm, which would explain the lack of marketing and why the show has been in development hell.

Now fans immediately started to jump to conclusions regarding the cause. First, many fans are worried that a live-action kids show is not exactly what Star Wars needs at the moment, and it’s not the right way to approach “the healing” of the franchise.

Some however started wondering whether it’s due to identity politics in ‘Skeleton Crew’ or more likely, due to lack of it.

Of course, many fans concluded that execs at Lucasfilm not liking ‘Skeleton Crew’ must mean it’s good. After all, those are the same people who approved ‘The Acolyte.’

No matter whether these rumors are true or not, the expectations for ‘Skeleton Crew’ are obviously low. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
