‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ Star Teases Impressive Action Sequences by Describing Her Training: “It Was Incredible for Me to Acquire That Ability”

Recently, the trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ was released, and it promised a lot of action, something that the creator herself, Leslye Headland promised in her many appearances across the media.

She explained that she pitched ‘Acolyte’ as ‘Frozen’ meets ‘Kill Bill’ and was heavily influenced by Wuxia films and Samurai action. The trailer already showcased plenty of that, and Headland went to great lengths to explain how ‘Acolyte’ will for the first time ever present Jedi as being vastly superior in numbers to Sith.

Plenty of stars in the show already commented their arduous training regimes, and now Amandla Stenberg who will be portraying Mae, one of the main characters in the show described how she “pain” for the producers. She decided to dive deep into every routine and training sequence presented before her in her recent interview for Entertainment Weekly.

I was such a pain in the ass for producers when I got there. “I’m just a really analytical person, and I have to dive deep into everything and gather as many pieces of information as possible in order to not freak out, especially when it comes to taking on something like Star Wars. I remember saying something along the lines of: ‘Well, Hayden Christensen trained for this amount of weeks, and I’m only training for this amount of weeks!’ And they were like, ‘It’s going to be fine. You’re going to work with your master, and it’s going to be okay.’

She also explained that she gained the ability to learn sequences on the spot, something she is especially proud of.

It was so rewarding. I’d never really had a relationship to martial arts before, but my master was very patient with me and just a delight. He guided me firmly but with a lot of joy. As we continued filming, I got faster and faster at learning sequences, so by the end of the show, oftentimes I was learning sequences on the spot, and then we would film them. It was incredible for me to acquire that ability.

We can’t wait to see what the crew has set up for us, and I hope they truly make good on their promises, at least when it comes to epic lightsaber scenes. The show will premiere on June 4 on Disney+ with the first two episodes. Have something to add? Let us know in the comments below!
