T.J. Miller Accuses His ‘Deadpool’ Co-Star Ryan Reynolds of Being Horrifically Mean” & “Insecure Dude”

Deadpool & Wolverine’ was recently released, and the movie is so far shattering box office records as one of the most profitable MCU movies in recent times. Much of the movie’s success depended on the fact that Marvel’s legacy characters were brought back such as Evans’ Human Torch, Garner’s Elektra, and Snipes’ Blade.

But, Reynolds and Levy also went to great lengths to gather the crew that worked with them on previous ‘Deadpool’ installments.

Notably, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Briana Hildebrand, Shioli Kutsuna, and Stefan Kapičić reprised their roles, but, T.J. Miller’s Weasley was nowhere to be seen.

This likely has something to do with Miller’s legal troubles in recent years and allegations of sexual abuse, but the actor and comedian tried to play it off like he wasn’t interested in the movie in the first place. Despite working together, Reynolds and Miller allegedly had a very strained relationship. Ryan never personally commented on it but Miller did. A year ago Miller was speaking on The Adam Carolla Show and revealed how “fame” supposedly changed Reynolds for the worse.

I think that Ryan Reynolds, Kate thinks he hates [me], Kate thinks he’s super frenemy with me, or even just that he hates me. I could see him hating me. But I said on the Hot Ones, I went on Hot Ones and I said that…you know, what was great about Deadpool is they covered up his handsome face. Beacuse he’s so distracting he must know this. But It’s so distracting to look at him and guys don’t want to laugh at him beacuse he looks like the guy that f**** your high-school girlfriend. And then girls don’t really want to laugh at him they just think he’s cute so they’ll just look at him like Ryan Gosling. Girls don’t care if he’s talking or acting. […] But he is such a good comedian that when you cover his face, he is so quick, he is so funny, so I love him as a comedian, but I think after he got super super famous from the first Deadpool, then he, things kinda changed.

Miller also admitted that he would not work with the actor again due to some weird experiences from the past:

Would I work with him again? No. I would not work with him again. But I’ve said that about Michael Bay, and now we’re friends, and now I would work with him again, but I think Michael Bay is different. And Michael Bay worked on a movie with Ryan Reynolds also, so he has a very specific opinion of Ryan Reynolds. And so, that was a good part of our last conversation. But I sort of wish him well beacuse he’s so good at Deadpool and I think it’s weird that he hates me and I think some people do know he hates me. We had a really weird moment on Deadpool where he said “let’s do one more take” and everyone’s like “okay” and I was like “yeah I’m fine” and then, as the character he was horrifically mean to me, as if I was Weasel.

He was like “You know what’s great about you Weasel, you’re not the star but you do just enough exposition that it’s funny and then we can leave and get back to the real movie.”

Miller also admitted that there was a lot of “riffing” done on set.

He’s a great improviser. […] But that’s what’s weird about him, and I’ve met other people who can confirm this, he did that and it was weird, and it doesn’t bother me. […] I just kind of listened to it and thought it was weird, and then got off stage beacuse then they finally yelled like “Ccut” and then I got to a station and walked over and the whole crew was acting weird. Then I went up to Kate and I was like that was weird right, and she was “of course, it was f***** weird, it was insane.” It was insane and everybody was looking at each other like “what the f*** was he doing.”

Miller also commented how Reynolds is likely insecure and accused the actor of having a manufactured public image:

I think he’s kind of an insecure dude. He’s really nice but I mean his Twitter bio is “showing you the parts of me that Focus Tested the best in focus groups” and I’m not sure that he’s joking. I think that might actually be his real sentiment there.

Reynolds and the rest of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ crew never addressed the absence of Weasel, but they did address why some other characters like Brolin’s Cable never made the cut.
