T.J. Miller’s Comments on ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Development Spark Outrage Among Fans: “His absence was not felt”

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ was released two weeks ago, and the movie is generally being seen as a major success, and breaking box-office records. We know that the movie is supposed to be Deadpool’s and Wolverine’s first foray into the MCU, but also a proper send-off for characters that belonged to the Fox X-Men franchise and other related Marvel properties.

The movie has quite a massive cast list, with the likes of Garner reprising her role as Elektra, Snipes returning as Blade, and Keen reprising her X-23 role from ‘Logan’ released in 2017.

We also know that much of the cast from previous ‘Deadpool’ installments return to reprise their roles notably Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Briana Hildebrand, Shioli Kutsuna, and Stefan Kapičić.

T.J. Miller was however nowhere to be seen, and while the exact reason for his absence was never actually revealed we can speculate on why he wasn’t even remotely connected to the movie.

Now recently, some comments the comedian made 2 years prior resurfaced online. Miller explained that he would not return to ‘Deadpool 3’ even if they asked him (meaning they totally didn’t ask him):

I would not have done ‘Deadpool 3’ if they came to me and they were like, ‘We want you to do ‘Deadpool 3.’

Video commentator went to great lengths to point out that the movie managed to gather other roles, but they clearly weren’t interested in Miller and he should tone down his ego a bit:

“My god, how much of an ego do you have? The fact that they managed to bring this guy, Randal Reeder, to play as Buck from the last two previous Deadpool movies tell me how much a f—— insignificant douche nozzle you were back then dude. And I find it very fitting that you played a character named f—— Weasel.”

As a reminder, the reason why Miller did not take part in the movie most likely doesn’t have anything to do with his ego but has everything to do with his legal troubles and serious allegations against him:

On December 9, 2016, Miller was arrested in Los Angeles for allegedly assaulting an Uber driver but was released on $20,000 bail. He settled with the driver in March 2018. In late 2017, a sexual assault allegation from his college years resurfaced. An anonymous woman accused Miller of violent behavior during a sexual encounter in 2001. Though some witnesses corroborated her story, the college’s conduct proceedings were sealed.

Miller’s representatives claimed the accuser was a disgruntled former colleague and criticized the timing of the allegations. Due to these issues, DreamWorks Animation removed Miller from ‘How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World,’ replacing him with Justin Rupple for the character Tuffnut.

On April 9, 2018, Miller was arrested at LaGuardia Airport on federal charges for making a false bomb threat. He had called emergency services on March 18, 2018, claiming that a female passenger on Amtrak Train 2256 had a bomb. However, it was discovered that Miller was actually on Amtrak Train 2258, which was also evacuated and searched.

As you can see, a lot has happened between the release of the first Deadpool movie and ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ and even if Reynolds is still personally connected to Miller, Disney would never allow him to be associated with their properties.

Fans agreed that Miller’s character wasn’t missed all that much:

it’s extra funny because Deadpool says “everyone I care about is in this picture” (wherein TJ Miller is nowhere to be found) and it’s one of the main motivations of the plot
