A Little History

Thanos is a member of a prestigious race of beings known as Deviants. The Deviants stem from the Eternals, perfect beings created by the Celestials. The Celestials are the highest order and power in the Marvel Universe. While similar to Eternals in nearly every aspect, deviants lack their appearance. The Eternals have a perfect exterior, and the Deviants are often misshapen and gruesome.

Born on Titan, the moon of Saturn, Thanos is the offspring of its King. He is one of the few beings on Titan to receive the Deviant gene. Even though he possessed different colored skin and heightened abilities compared to the others on Titan, he received fair treatment from his family. This didn’t stop the others who lived on Titan from fearing him. Eventually, he realized just how different he was and became upset by his treatment.

As he aged, he gained an interest in the morals and virtues opposite to what Eternals stood for. More specifically, he became interested in death. This interest skyrocketed after he entered an ancient temple and came face-to-face with the physical embodiment of Death. He immediately fell in love with her and vowed to prove his love. Thanos looked to do this by destroying all forms of life.

During the subsequent years, Thanos honed his abilities in mysticism so that he may create a weapon. When his father heard of this, he banished him from Titan. Filled with hate and motivation, he traveled through the depths of space to bring together an army of angry and willing-to-fight, aliens. While this was happening, his mutation also began to allow him to absorb cosmic rays. This absorption turned him into the most powerful of all creatures from Titan.

Eventually, he used his newfound power to launch an attack on his home planet. The attack killed millions of Titan’s inhabitants, including his mother. He then proceeded to follow his goal of achieving the love of Death.
