Temuera Morrison Reportedly Set to Bring Live-Action Captain Rex to Life in upcoming Star Wars Project

Temuera Morrison is widely recognized for his role in the Star Wars universe, where he first played Jango Fett in Attack of the Clones (2002). Since Jango was the template for the Republic’s clone army, Morrison has gone on to portray many of his clones, including Boba Fett.
He later voiced Boba in The Empire Strikes Back (2004 re-release) and various video games before fully stepping into the role in The Mandalorian and its spin-off, The Book of Boba Fett.
Now industry insider Daniel Richtman reports that Temuera Morrison will play Captain Rex in a live-action Star Wars project. However, he is not completely sure which project it is. He assumes it will be Ahsoka Season 2, but it has not been officially confirmed.
Morrison already voiced Captain Rex in the first season of ‘Ahsoka’ so it’s not that far fetched at all to assume that he will appear in person in the second season.
Captain Rex and Ahsoka Tano have a long history together from The Clone Wars. They first met during the Battle of Christophsis and quickly became close allies. Alongside Anakin Skywalker, they led the 501st Legion, and Rex stood by Ahsoka when she was wrongly accused of a crime.
During the Siege of Mandalore, they fought side by side, but Rex was briefly controlled by Order 66. Ahsoka removed his inhibitor chip, freeing him. After that, they stayed hidden during the rise of the Empire but later reunited to help start the Rebel Alliance. Rex was devastated when Ahsoka was believed to have died on Malachor, and it’s unclear if he ever found out she survived. His last known battle was on Endor during the Galactic Civil War.
At first, Ahsoka was said to be a miniseries, but by 2023, Disney stopped calling it that. In April, Dave Filoni announced he was making a movie to connect The Mandalorian and its spin-offs. The timing of the movie depended on future seasons, including a possible Ahsoka Season 2, which relied on how well the first season did.
By October, a second season seemed more likely than the movie. In November, Filoni became Lucasfilm’s chief creative officer, and in January 2024, Ahsoka Season 2 was officially confirmed.
