Disney’s latest Star Wars project, The Acolyte, has sparked considerable debate and faced notable review-bombing, making it the most controversial Star Wars project to date. Despite its eight-episode run, fans continue to discuss the series, particularly because many believe the show’s climactic episode either salvaged or redeemed the entire series.
One key character in this redemption arc is Qimir, who, despite initially seeming odd, was revealed to be a formidable Sith Lord and the pupil of Darth Plagueis.
In an exclusive interview with our colleagues at ScreenRant, Director Hanelle M. Culpepper talked about her work on the series and delved into the character of Qimir, who was central to the episodes she directed.
As previously mentioned, Hanelle M. Culpepper, who directed the pivotal Episodes 6 and 8 of The Acolyte, gave an exclusive interview to our friends at ScreenRant. In the interview, she shared insights about working with Manny Jacinto on set, as well as details about the character Qimir.
While we expected working with Manny Jacinto would be a positive experience, Culpepper also revealed some intriguing details about Qimir:
“Manny [Jacinto] was so great. What was probably interesting about coming in at episode 6 is that we were seeing this version of The Stranger that had not been done… you get to see this side of him, to see who he really is, to see his vulnerability. And Manny really brought so much to that… It was really with each scene, just figuring out what’s the right amount, because the one thing we all didn’t want is him just to be a mustache-twirly bad guy. We want him to be so much more complex than that, and his story is complex, what did happen to him…”
