Last week, the final episode of ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ was released, the show neatly wrapped up its loose ends and teased exciting season 2 on account of two massive cameos, that surprised fans and haters alike.

Speaking of the hate that the show received, it’s no secret that the show suffered from both review-bombing and review-boosting. The phenomenon was most obvious on review aggregator sites such as IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes.

The show had an incredible number of reviews, more than all three seasons of ‘The Mandalorian’ combined, and most of them were negative. At its lowest point, ‘The Acolyte’ held a 12 % score when it comes to the audiences, but most of the time it hovered around 13-14 %.

Now that the show has finally been released the score is seemingly starting to recover. It currently stands at 17 % which is, a drastic improvement. The majority of the recent positive 5-star reviews were left over the weekend.

Did ‘The Acolyte’ redeem itself with the last episode or is there’s more probable explanation for this? Well, the positive reviews could come from binge-watchers who put off watching the entire show until all episodes are released. I have to agree that perhaps the story of ‘The Acolyte’ would flow better if the episodes were watched back-to-back.

Then there’s also the fact that Headland called all fans to leave positive reviews and ignore IMDb ratings if they want to increase the odds of the show getting season 2, so this in fact might be the case of the show being review-boosted. There are also some suspiciously AI-sounding 5-star reviews left on Google Reviews for the show, so there’s that.

There’s also the fact that review-bombers simply don’t care anymore, the show has aired, the damage has been done and we’re only now seeing the objective state of ‘The Acolyte.’ The show is far from the best in the franchise, it’s plagued by issues, but it definitely did not deserve the negative attention it got.
