Disney’s latest Star Wars venture, ‘The Acolyte,’ debuted on Disney+ on June 4, 2024. Despite facing controversies and review bombings, the series remains one of the most discussed shows currently. Fans are actively engaged in discussions, speculating on various theories surrounding its characters.

Following episode 5, titled “Night,” online communities continue to dissect every detail and moment. The episode sparked considerable debate and commentary across the Internet. Building on previous discussions, this report explores showrunner Leslye Headland’s confirmation of the presence of two Sith in the series, as hypothesized by a credible fan theory.

Today’s theory, presented by Erik Voss on the New Rockstars YouTube channel, delves into the fifth episode of ‘The Acolyte.’ In his breakdown, Voss highlights Easter Eggs that may reveal the identity of the mysterious second Sith, identifying two compelling candidates for the role.

Before we delve into the theory, it’s important to note that this is a fan theory based on robust evidence and arguments. However, it remains speculative and is not officially part of the canon. Nonetheless, it’s an intriguing concept worth exploring. Here’s what Voss proposes:

“He’s making a good point. It was the Jedi decision to turn their Padawans into child soldiers. Also I love the little shrug that he does; it reminds me of Jesse Eisenberg’s shrug as Mark Zuckerberg when Winklevoss asked him why he put an app up for free on the internet instead of selling it to Microsoft.”

“The Sith looks over at May. He is toying with them. He’s returning to his friendly sidekick voice which now just proves that it was all just an act. Manny Jacinto, who clearly did some push-ups and curls before this take, pulls May into a force choke and manages to fend off Sol while still holding May. “

“Qimir points his saber into May’s temple, a gesture that looks like he’s holding a gun to her head and he says: ‘I have no name, but a Jedi like you might call me Sith.’ In case there’s any debate over whether the Stranger is saying the Jedi would just call him a Sith, the actor and the production confirmed that he is actually a Sith Lord and in my roundtable discussion with Leslye Headland, she said that there will be at least two Sith characters that we meet in this season.”

“The Sith says that he wants freedom, though. He’s obviously referring to freedom from the Jedi Order, who think that they are the only ones who should decide how people use the Force, but also I think he’s talking about freedom from the Sith rule of two that he would currently be trapped in.”

“This Sith Master would either be Darth Plagueis and Darth Tenebrous, but either way, it is the Sith tradition to always want to overthrow their master and become the master themselves with an apprentice that they always suspect is going to try to stab them in the back.”

The existence of two Sith Lords in ‘The Acolyte’ is no longer just speculation; Voss confirmed in his video that Headland had disclosed this information during their discussion. Fans had theorized this possibility earlier, and now it’s confirmed.

So, who are these Sith Lords? While the story hasn’t provided hints yet, considering the Star Wars timeline, Voss suggests it could be either Darth Plagueis or Darth Tenebrous.

Darth Plagueis is a renowned figure in Star Wars lore, mentioned by Palpatine in ‘The Revenge of the Sith’. He was Palpatine’s former master who sought immortality but met his demise at Palpatine’s hands. Voss speculates that Qimir’s healing abilities might hint at Plagueis being his master, though this remains unconfirmed.

Less familiar to casual fans, Darth Tenebrous is another formidable Sith Lord and Plagueis’ own master. Whether it’s one of these two who appears in ‘The Acolyte’—and fans are hopeful—it promises to be an epic addition to the series!
