A sequel to ‘The Batman’ was announced in April 2022, with Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves returning. The sequel, titled ‘The Batman – Part II,’ will also feature returning cast members like Zoë Kravitz, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell.

Filming is set to begin in April 2025 at Warner Bros. Studios in England, and the film is scheduled for release on October 2, 2026, after being delayed from its original October 2025 date.

Due to the movie being delayed by an entire year, various conspiracy theories started developing that the movie was actually canceled, due to Gunn not wanting a competing Batman on the market, especially in light of Gunn’s own movie ‘The Brave and the Bold’ expected to hit theaters.

However Gunn recently debunked those rumors once and for all confirming that the sequel is in development, and he can’t wait for Reeves to deliver the script for the movie.

John Rocha and Jeff Sneider, industry insiders, shared a positive update today: casting has started for ‘The Batman Part II,’ with Matt Reeves planning to offer a lead role to a big actor who could play the main villain.

Filming might begin in February 2025, though it could overlap with Robert Pattinson’s role in Christopher Nolan’s next film, which is expected to be small.

Several months ago, speculations started regarding the possible villain for the upcoming flick. The clear contenders for the villain role are Mr. Freeze, due to the movie’s confirmed Winter setting, and Court of Owls, due to some hints that Reeves himself shared in various interviews:

We’ve shared [the script] as we’ve been going along with DC, and they’re super excited. It’s going to dig into the epic story about deeper corruption and it goes into places [Bruce Wayne] couldn’t even anticipate in the first one.

The seeds of where this goes are all in the first movie & it expands in a way that will show you aspects of the character you never got to see. Batman is constantly battling these forces. But those forces can’t be entirely exorcised. So the next movie delves deeper into that.
