Robert Pattinson recently opened up about an unusual aspect of playing Batman: the scent of the cowl. The actor, known for his roles in The Twilight Saga and The Batman, shared his unique experience trying on the masks worn by previous actors who played Bruce Wayne.

Pattinson described the cowl’s smell as a mix of leather and emotion, explaining, “You’re sealed in a leather mask, but you’re also extremely anxious all the time. And leather is porous, so it really takes on an emotional scent.”

During his audition, he had to try on various cowls from the franchise’s history, some dating back 20 years. Interestingly, Pattinson noted they all carried the lingering scents of their former wearers. When asked which actor’s cowl smelled the best, he responded with a smile, “I think probably Clooney smelt the best.”

As for updates on The Batman Part II, Pattinson admitted he hasn’t seen anything yet and is still waiting for Matt Reeves to complete the script. When asked to describe the sequel in one word, he teased, “Maybe… a little more iris?

Meanwhile, Reeves addressed the possibility of Pattinson’s Batman joining the DC Universe (DCU). While James Gunn and Peter Safran have entertained the idea, Reeves remains focused on his planned “Epic Crime Saga,” which he wants to fully develop. “What the future brings, I can’t really tell you,” Reeves said, emphasizing his priority is delivering something special with the sequel.

The Batman Part II is slated to hit theaters on October 1, 2027. What do you think about the possibility of “Battinson” joining the DCU? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
