‘The Blue Orchestra’ Manga Is Finally Back After 16-Month Hiatus

Shogakukan’s Manga ONE service has confirmed that Ao no Orchestra (The Blue Orchestra) by Makoto Akui will resume on February 25. New chapters will come out every two weeks. The manga had been on pause since October 2023, when its 75th chapter was released.

The story follows Hajime Aono, a middle school violin prodigy who suddenly quits playing. His life takes a turn when he meets a girl who introduces him to a high school with a top-tier orchestra. Slowly, his passion for music reignites.

Akui started the series in 2017 on the Manga ONE app. The next volume, number 12, is set for release on March 12. In January 2023, the manga won Best Shōnen Manga at the 68th Shogakukan Manga Awards.

The anime adaptation premiered on NHK Educational in April 2023, running for 24 episodes. A second season, which will have 21 episodes, is set to air this fall.
