The Boys is currently on hiatus as production gears up for its fifth and final season. Despite facing criticism and attempts at review-bombing, the fourth season was a resounding success, showcasing Erick Kripke and his team’s continued mastery of this dark, satirical take on politics and superheroes.
Season 4 left fans in a grim place, with Homelander—the show’s central antagonist—seemingly triumphant as he effectively assumes the role of President of the United States. While the satire is razor-sharp, the in-universe ramifications are just as intriguing.
To keep fans engaged, the creators have been providing updates on developments within the series. Notably, we’ve learned about significant changes in Homelander’s administration—an element that promises to take center stage when the final season premieres in 2026.
In a clever and satirical nod to Donald Trump’s re-election and cabinet appointments, The Boys continues its sharp commentary by teasing details about Homelander’s presidential cabinet. Fans can expect the full roster to be unveiled when the final season premieres.
Given Homelander’s grip on power, it’s no surprise that things are aligning perfectly in his favor. In that spirit, Vought International has shared two significant cabinet-related updates that we’re excited to break down for you:
It’s with a heavy heart that Firecracker has withdrawn her name from consideration as Head of Homeland Security. Believe all the lies you want, but the TRUTH is that she simply has too much on her plate being VNN’s lead anchor. She looks forward to impacting this nation’s youth… pic.twitter.com/fdqYx7IWEx

The first update is that she won’t be taking on the role of Head of Homeland Security under Homelander. Why? According to her, it’s because she’s too busy as VNN’s lead anchor—not because she’s an unhinged lunatic, of course.
Priorities, right? The idea of turning down such a role for a lower-paying job feels oddly reminiscent of the Matt Gaetz scandal, doesn’t it? Anyway, moving on to the second announcement:
Today, Vought is proud to announce Deep as the head of a newly formed agency: the Department of Preserving Earth (DOPE). In this role, he’ll work closely with his best friend Homelander to make our oceans a little more Super. After his resounding success as head of Crime… pic.twitter.com/a8i1M2b8wD

In a not-so-shocking twist, The Deep has been appointed as the head of the newly created Department of Preserving Earth—fittingly abbreviated as DOPE. With The Deep in charge and that acronym, it’s safe to say his storyline will be… well, pretty “dope.”
That’s what we wanted to share with you! These two hilarious meta moments had us laughing and are yet another great example of how Kripke and his team expertly satirize American politics.
It’s one of the many reasons we love this show so much. Before wrapping up, here’s a recent comment from Kripke about the final season, where he calls The Boys “punk rock”:
We’re gonna look at the chips we have on the table right now. I live in absolute terror of becoming the thing we’ve been satirizing for five years . The thing about The Boys is that it’s punk rock, and it hurts extra hard when punk rockers sell out .
I’m really working hard to not sell out. We do these shows because we really care about them and we’re passionate about them, and they can tell fresh stories that we can’t tell in The Boys and not just be about rapid expansion but be very careful and mindful about the choices we’re making and being able to defend why we’re making them. I worry about that every single day.
I just want people to say, maybe it’s for them and maybe it isn’t for them, but gotta hand it to them, they maintain a consistent level of quality.
