‘The Boys’ Star Comments on His Ill-fated ‘Superman’ Audition: “I put myself on tape”

Most of you currently know Jack Quaid from his role in planetary popular ‘The Boys’ TV Show. The role is his most famous yet, and his first big break in the “superhero” genre despite the actor voicing a character in ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ and voicing the titular character in ‘My Adventures with Superman.’

As it turns out Quaid wanted to step in as the live-action Superman as well, as the actor revealed in his most recent interview that he did send an audition tape, but it did not end well at all.

Quaid revealed that “everybody” auditioned for Gunn’s first live-action DCU installment, but like most, he did not get far.

I did, yeah. I think everybody did, if you kind of fit the bill. I didn’t get very far at all. I put myself on tape and it went nowhere and that’s totally fine, like that’s totally cool.

Quaid does not look like your classic and iconic interpretation of Superman which is what most likely sealed the deal on his audition, considering that the actor is already embodying an animated version of Superman almost flawlessly.

Quaid also cleared up that he is fine with Gunn’s choice of Superman:

Specifically because I actually know David Corenswet a little bit. We did a pilot years ago that never went anywhere, but he’s one of those people you meet, ‘Oh yeah, like whenever you need another one, it’s probably gonna be you.’ That guy is Superman. I know I don’t — I remember getting that audition being like ‘yeah, sure, I’m the voice of Superman in a cartoon, but I don’t really think I fit the bill physically at all and that’s fine, that’s totally cool.

Recently, Quaid drew quite the attention to himself for admitting that he is a definition of Nepo Baby. The actor is, for some of you who don’t know, the only child of actors Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid.

Yeah, I mean, no matter what I do, people are going to call attention to it. People have called me a “nepo baby.” I’m inclined to agree. I am an immensely privileged person, was able to get representation pretty early on, and that’s more than half the battle. I knew the door was open for me in a lot of ways that it’s just not for a lot of actors. And I’ve just tried to work as hard as I possibly can to prove that I deserve to walk through that door. So if that’s in the rom-com space, it’s got to be different enough, and I need to work my ass off.
