The Boys‘ fourth season premiered on June 13, 2024, and wrapped up on July 18, 2024, earning a Certified Fresh rating and high viewership numbers.

The season was particularly successful, thanks in part to the introduction of new characters, some of whom are set to return in Season 5. Among the standout additions was Firecracker, played by Valorie Curry, who quickly became one of the most compelling new faces in the series.

Editor’s note: The article was updated on September 12th with the latest information about the incident.

We’ve previously reported on both the character and Curry’s statements, but the actress recently made headlines again following a troubling incident in Belfast. She took to the Internet to call out “fans” for their inappropriate behavior at the event.

Valorie Curry is currently in Belfast, Northern Ireland, attending the Northern Ireland Comic Con as part of The Boys panel. Dressed in full costume, the actress engaged with fans, allowing them to approach her, chat, and likely take photos or get autographs. However, two individuals, whom we hesitate to call “fans,” crossed a boundary (but more on that later).

Although Curry hasn’t provided specific details about the incident, she made it very clear in a video posted online that such behavior is absolutely unacceptable.

“Hey guys. Just got back from the first day of Comic-Con in Northern Ireland, Belfast. And by and large, everyone was fantastic, I’ve only just started doing these conventions on my own and everyone for the most part has been so lovely, kind and respectful. (…) We do need to talk about boundaries and what is appropriate in terms of behaviour.

I know people saw a character that I played do some pretty extreme things – on The Boys. I don’t care if you’re in costume. I don’t care if you are in character. It’s not okay and it’s not funny to demand those things from me in person at my booth. It’s not okay. Frankly, to the person who did that repeatedly today, I made it pretty clear that it wasn’t okay and that only seemed to make this person and their friend angry.

I didn’t think this needed to be explained, but I was deeply uncomfortable. It was quite clear I was uncomfortable. I really want to be able to do [conventions]. I really enjoy getting to meet the fans and talk about the characters that I played – honestly, I really love it.

I want to be able to do this. I’m not going to be able to do [conventions] if people are acting this way because it makes me so uncomfortable and honestly you should know better. Everybody else knows better, and again, I don’t know what reaction you were looking for [because] nobody was laughing.”

Allegedly, a fan dressed as Homelander repeatedly asked her to breastfeed him. His friend or associate encouraged this.

From her comments, it’s fairly clear what these individuals were demanding, and we fully support Valorie Curry in condemning such behavior. This kind of conduct is especially inappropriate and unacceptable, particularly towards a woman. We hope this was an isolated incident and that she won’t have to deal with anything similar in the future.
