‘The Boys’ Universe Expands Like the MCU with Four New Seasons Coming Soon!

Share:

The Boys is one of the world’s most popular superhero series, and its fourth season recently concluded on July 18, 2024. The season was Certified Fresh and achieved impressive viewership numbers, surpassing even Season 3, despite some controversial fan comments.

However, the end of the season doesn’t mean the end of The Boys franchise. The series is set to expand with several upcoming projects. In a recent interview, showrunner Eric Kripke discussed the future of the franchise. Since then, numerous updates about what’s next have been revealed.

The Boys universe is expanding so rapidly that some fans are joking it’s becoming the very thing it mocks—the MCU. In fact, we can confirm that four new seasons, including two entirely new shows, are currently in production and expected to air in the near future.

As we’ve mentioned, with several new seasons on the way, some fans are joking that The Boys franchise is becoming like the MCU. While it’s not quite there yet, we’ll explain what’s happening with each of the new projects.

1. The Boys, Season 5 – TBD 2026

The main series has just wrapped up its fourth season. Although a fifth season was recently confirmed, it was also announced shortly thereafter that this will be the final season. Regarding the concluding season, Amazon commented:

“This is all about [creator] Eric Kripke. We’ve had this incredible success because of his vision and execution and he’s told us for awhile that he believes this really should be a five-season series. Of course, we asked him, “Are you really sure it can’t go on for more?” And he gave it some thought, but came back to his original vision for this, so we want to honor that. Similarly, if there’s more to this universe, which would we love, that’s ultimately going to be about him leading the path there.”

The series is currently scheduled for release sometime in 2026, though an exact date has not been specified.

2. Gen V, Season 2 – TBD 2025

Gen V is a spin-off series that is set in the same narrative continuity as The Boys; the two series, in fact, crossed over on more than one occasion. The series had a successful first season, but when Chance Perdomo tragically died in a traffic accident, the future of the series was up in the air, we can confirm that Season 2 is being filmed right now and that the season is currently set for an unspecified 2025 release date.

3. The Boys: Mexico – TBD

Gen V isn’t the only spin-off in the works. The Boys: Mexico, a new spin-off set in Mexico, is in early development. Produced by Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal, details are limited, but showrunner Eric Kripke has confirmed the following:

What’s happening with “The Boys: Mexico”?

The deal for the writer is just closing, and then he’s going to start writing the pilot.

As of now, the series does not have a specified release window.

4. Vought Rising – TBD

Another spin-off series, titled Vought Rising, has recently been confirmed. This prequel will explore the origins of Vought. Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash are set to return as Soldier Boy and Stormfront, respectively. Showrunner Paul Grellong shared the following details about the series:

“We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world of ‘The Boys.’ It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V.”
