The highly anticipated DCEU movie ‘The Flash‘ is only half a month away from its worldwide release. The movie was previously shown at CinemaCon in April, and according to reactions from advance screenings (and James Gunn), this might be the movie DC fans waited for. Considering the movie has been in development since 2014, we’d expect nothing less (to be fair, ‘Black Adam’ was also in development for a very long time, and we’ve seen how that turned out).

DC fans are undoubtedly excited to witness the return of Michael Keaton’s Batman after more than three decades, and we’re honestly waiting to see Sasha Calle’s debut as Supergirl, given that there’s also a solo Supergirl movie in development. But, there have been questions about the title star Ezra Miller, who had a fair share of legal troubles after the movie’s production. While we’re gonna watch them as the Scarlet Speedster in this movie, there’s a big question about their DC future.

The Flash director addresses Miller’s DC future!

In a recent interview for The Playlist, director Andy Muschietti and producer Barbara Muschietti praised The Flash movie’s title star and revealed that they would continue to play the Flash if a sequel happens. Andy Muschietti was asked if there’s a chance Miller could be replaced in the potential sequel, but the director rejected such claims. Barbara Muschietti also praised Miller’s professionalism on the movie’s set.

“I don’t think there’s anyone that can play that character as well as they did. The other depictions of the character are great, but this particular vision of the character, they just excelled in doing it. And, as you said, the two Barrys – it feels like a character that was made for them.”

“In principal photography, Ezra was brilliant and the most committed and the most professional. Ezra gave everything for this role – physically, creatively, emotionally. They were absolutely supreme.”

Of course, given ‘The Flash’ is one of the last few DCEU movies and with DCU set to take over as the mainstream cinematic universe, we don’t know if ‘The Flash’ sequel is even on paper at this moment. But money talks, and with a good commercial result, we’re pretty sure it’ll eventually happen. With or without Miller? That’s the part we aren’t sure about just yet.

‘The Flash’ movie follows Miller’s title character as he tries to use his powers to travel back in time to save his deceased mother, for whose murder his father was falsely accused and imprisoned. But ultimately, Scarlet Speedster creates an alternate timeline that he’ll need to save with the help of his alternate self, Batman (Michael Keaton) and Supergirl (Sasha Calle). Ben Affleck also reprises the role of DCEU Batman.

Written by Christina Hodson and directed by Andy Muschietti, ‘The Flash’ is set to be released worldwide on June 16, 2023.
