‘The Last of Us’ Season 2: Bigger, Bolder, and Packed with New Nightmares Pedro Pascal Reveals

Season 1 of The Last of Us managed to impress both fans and critics, staying true to the powerful story of a world devastated by a fungal infection and the deep bond between Joel and Ellie.
Now, the highly anticipated Season 2 is on its way, bringing back Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie. This season will move into the events of The Last of Us Part II, taking place years after the dramatic ending of Season 1.
According to Pascal, Season 2 builds upon everything that made the first season great, but on an even bigger scale. He said, “It’s definitely a bigger, far more ambitious and risk-taking season. And, if it can even be imagined, further tests our strength against a world we’re already afraid to be in.”
This season won’t just be emotionally intense—it will also introduce terrifying new threats. Fans who wanted to see more of the infected are in for a treat. Showrunner Craig Mazin teased, “All I’ll say is that for the people who want to see more of the infected… Buckle up!” One of the major new dangers is a more evolved form of the infected called ‘Stalkers.’ These creatures are smarter and more dangerous than anything seen before.
Neil Druckmann, the creator of The Last of Us, explained how these new infected will change the game. “You get to see a different evolution of this infection,” he said. “It’s kept certain parts of their brain alive, so they are smarter. They coordinate and hide and do things that we’ve never seen any other infected do on this show.”
Beyond the physical threats, Season 2 will also explore the emotional struggles of the characters. Pascal admitted that he already feels nostalgic for the relationship between Joel and Ellie in the first season. “If I were to indulge my melancholy a little, I remember thinking, ‘I want to go back to the beginning,’” he shared. “Just to experience the whole thing again and not lose any time being shy with one another, because of how special it felt to me, and how unready I was to move on from it.”
With higher stakes, deeper emotions, and terrifying new creatures, Season 2 of The Last of Us promises to be an unforgettable experience. Get ready for moments that will make you scream, cry, and hold your breath all at once.
