James Gunn is currently building up a new cinematic universe from scratch. Titled DCU, it’s supposed to replace Snyder’s ill-fated DCEU which has seen both major success and major failures over the years.
The DCU officially kickstarts with the release of ‘Creature Commandos’ this December, but both Safran and Gunn stated on several occasions that ‘Superman’ bound for a 2025 release is the true start of the DCU.
‘Peacemaker’ season 2 is currently in production, alongside ‘Lanterns’ a True Detective-style TV show focusing on three notable Green Lanterns, Guy Gardner, John Stewart, and Hal Jordan.
Recently, it’s been revealed that ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ is entering production in January 2025, with a 2026 release date. Gunn also recently cleared up that just beacuse some projects are on a release slate, this doesn’t mean that the projects will be released.
This is due to the fact that Gunn refuses to start production without a finished script, and if the script is not satisfactory, the project won’t be developed further. Now fans are left wondering which projects will enter production following ‘Lanterns’ and ‘Supergirl.’
The director did provide us with an answer but it’s a non-answer really:
However, Comicodigy, a notable leaker and scooper account on X has recently shared potential rumors that shed some light on the upcoming productions. According to the leaker, it’s ‘The Authority’, ‘The Brave and The Bold’, or ‘Teen Titans.’
‘The Authority’ was originally announced as a part of Chapter 1: Gods & Monsters, and the team is set to be teased in the upcoming ‘Superman.’
Regarding ‘The Brave and the Bold,’ nothing is known but fans are eagerly waiting to find out who the DCU’s Batman will be, considering that the project is set to introduce him alongside Damian Wayne. The movie is being described as being the start of the Bat Family in the DCU.
‘Teen Titans’ movie was confirmed to be in development several months ago with ‘Supergir’s’ Ana Nogueira penning the script. The project also wasn’t part of the official release slate when Gunn and Safran were introducing the DCU so little is known about the project except for the fact that it’s in development.
