“The REAL Fans Love This Show”: #SaveTheAcolyte Starts Trending Following Series Cancelation After Mere 8 Episodes

‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ is the most recent installment in the Star Wars franchise. Even before release the show was a target of several controversies some of them motivated by hatred of “woke” politics. Some of them are due to some statements made by the cast and crew which can only be described as “inflammatory.”

Once the show was released it became obvious that the second-most expensive Star Wars show suffered from poor story & writing, confusing pacing, and overall low-quality production despite having a $180 million budget for a mere 8 episodes.

The show was losing viewers as the weeks went by, and even though the finale managed to somewhat redeem mediocre prior episodes, it wasn’t enough to save the show from being canceled.

‘The Acolyte’ was unprofitable and placed Disney as a whole in a bad light, this is why a few days ago it’s been announced that the show was canceled.

The reactions to this news ranged from happiness and memes to sadness and criticism pointed toward “trolls,” ‘haters,” and “bigots.” A petition was started for Disney to give at least a second season to the show so that the stories that started in the final episode (Yoda, Darth Plagueis, Qimir) can continue.

The petition started on Change.org currently has over 30,000 signatures, which is quite an impressive number overall considering the small viewership that the show truly had. To complement the petition #SaveTheAcolyte hashtag started trending on X (formerly Twitter) as fans are using last-ditch efforts to see the show renewed which at this point seems unlikely.

Following the news of cancelation, the show’s stars, primarily Amandla Stenberg and Leslye Headland have been targets of harassment online which is never okay no matter how bad your product is. Shockingly enough, it appeared that even Disney itself is trying to distance itself from the show by removing all related merch from the official store until ultimately restoring only a few T-shirts.

Due to this fans are increasingly afraid that ‘The Acolyte’ will end up as ‘Willow,’ a catastrophic revival of the franchise under the same name released in 1988. ‘Willow’ was praised by critics but panned by fans, the show eventually had such a low viewership that less than six months after release it was pulled from the streaming service entirely, removing all options to watch the show through legal means.
