Every known actor in the world has to start somewhere, and with a lot of work and a bit of luck, they eventually find that breakthrough role that opens the door to blockbuster projects and multi-billion dollar franchises. The Puerto Rican actor Ismael Cruz Córdova started building his career through roles in TV shows such as ‘The Good Wife,’ ‘Sesame Street,’ ‘Ray Donovan,’ ‘Berlin Station,’ and ‘The Undoing,’ as well as movies Mary Queen of Scots and Miss Bala. Ultimately, he debuted as an Elvish ranger Arondir in Amazon’s ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ last year.
Despite negative reviews and the backlash it received from the fans of Tolkien’s lore, Amazon still has high hopes for its most expensive project yet. The second season is currently in production and is expected to premiere in 2024. Amazon announced a five-season plan, and it will be interesting to see if they’ll manage to pull it off. While working on such big projects can take a lot of actors’ time and create schedule conflicts that prevent them from working on other big projects, the series’ star Ismael Cruz Córdova recently shared that he hopes to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future.
The Rings of Power star has already been in contact with Marvel Studios!
Speaking with Variety, Ismael Cruz Córdova recently shared how he’s been in contact with Marvel’s casting directors before. He auditioned for the role of Adam Warlock in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’, but the role ultimately went to Will Poulter.
“I have a very good relationship with the Marvel casting directors. […] I really wanted that one [the role of Adam Warlock], but Will Poulter looks amazing doing it, so I’m not mad. But that was a hard one because I love that whole storyline.”

Still, Córdova is confident that he and Marvel Studios can find a perfect role for him in the MCU. The actor also revealed that his dream Marvel role would be Hector Ayala, also known as the White Tiger. Considering that the character was also born in Puerto Rico and later moved to New York City, just like Córdova, it seems like Marvel Studios doesn’t need to look any further for an actor when they decide to introduce that character to the MCU.
“I always think that I haven’t gotten those roles because they’re keeping me open for the one that I want to do. […] I think that’s just another character [Hector Ayala] that’s just fantastic. I love characters that are improbable heroes, that are people that have got the worst deck dealt. That is my story. And I find that is many of our stories.”
