The Story of ‘Spider-Man 4’ Has Reportedly Changed & No Longer Features Kingpin

‘Spider-Man 4′ is one of the most exciting MCU projects currently in development. The story is set to begin a new trilogy and over the past several months, several leaks and rumors tried to establish what to expect from the movie.

Now we know that the movie was reportedly imagined as a street-level story, trying to move away from the Multiverse theme that’s been started in previous installments. It’s been rumored that’s going to feature Kingpin and Daredevil, keeping the theme more grounded.

The script is still not finished, at least according to Holland’s most recent comments, so none of those rumors were set in stone. Now during his recent Discord AMA, Alex Perez confirmed that Kingping and street-level setting is probably no longer in the books for the movie.

According to Perez, who discussed numerous details related to the movie, ‘Spider-Man 4’ is tentatively scheduled for release in July 2026, a slot that Marvel originally held but has since given to Sony.

While it’s uncertain which film will bridge the gap between ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ ‘Spider-Man 4’ is a strong candidate. Zendaya is “confirmed” to reprise her role as MJ, and filming is expected to start later this year if the release date is to be met.

J.K. Simmons will likely continue as J. Jonah Jameson, and other characters, including possibly Ned, might be introduced as Peter Parker heads to ESU (Empire State University). There’s speculation about the return of cured villains from ‘No Way Home’ and the potential introduction of the symbiote, with Perez expecting it to appear in ‘Secret Wars’ rather than ‘Spider-Man 4.’

The storyline might also shift, potentially delaying the inclusion of Kingpin and the introduction of Norman Osborn or Otto Octavius. The director for ‘Spider-Man 4’ has not been confirmed, though rumors suggest Marvel is considering a couple of candidates.

As I’ve said these are mostly speculations and none of this was confirmed by official sources but since Perez is pretty reliable, you can at least entertain the notion of all this being true until proven differently.
