‘The Walking Dead’ CCO Scott M. Gimple Teases Potential Return of Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes & Danai Gurira’s Michonne

Scott M. Gimple, Chief Content Officer for The Walking Dead, recently hinted at the possibility of bringing back two major characters: Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (played by Danai Gurira). He mentioned that there are several ways the story could evolve with these beloved characters, though he didn’t provide any specific details.
In an interview, Gimple teased that there are “possibilities of all sorts of strange iterations of shows” involving Rick and Michonne. This suggests that the pair might return in ways we haven’t yet seen, possibly in unexpected forms or unique storylines. Fans who have been waiting for their comeback could get more than they expected.
While there’s no confirmation on when or how they might return, Gimple’s comment has sparked excitement among Walking Dead viewers: “There’s so many… I’ve been very careful to not say, ‘Oh, that’ll never happen,’ because it does. So you know, there are possibilities. And there’s possibilities of all sorts of strange iterations of shows with those characters and with other characters. So you know I think it’s entirely possible.”
Both Rick and Michonne have been fan favorites, with their storylines closely tied to the series’ most intense moments, and fans are hoping for another opportunity to see them on the screen after last year’s successful spin-off.
There’s no official word on whether this return will happen, but if it does, we can expect them in a future season of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. It’s clear that the possibility of their return is on the table, and fans are eager to see what direction it could take.
With the show branching out into multiple spinoffs, the idea of another reunion for Rick and Michonne doesn’t seem too far-fetched. It could be just a matter of time before we see if this “strange iteration” Gimple mentioned becomes a reality.
