Todd Phillips Finally Explains How Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker Would React After Meeting “Alpha Male” Batman – It’s Really Weird

‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ is the highly anticipated next release from DC. This film is set in and around Arkham Asylum and is categorized as a drama, though specific plot details remain unconfirmed.

The cast features Joaquin Phoenix, Lady Gaga, Zazie Beetz, Catherine Keener, and Brendan Gleeson. The screenplay was co-written by Todd Phillips and Scott Silver.

Initially, the project was labeled as a musical, but Phillips has clarified that it is not a traditional musical while describing it as a traditional musical. The first installment in the franchise was a massive success for the studios despite some portion of the fans hating this portrayal of Joker.

The longer the franchise goes on, the more fans are convinced that Todd Phillips has never touched a comic in his life, which some of the statements made by the director confirm.

Don’t get me wrong Phillips never presented Joker as being comic-accurate, recently the director confirmed that Arthur will never become the Clown Prince of Crime, it’s simply not who he is. Lady Gaga also stated that her portrayal of Harley Quinn would be vastly different than her comic-book counterpart.

Now IGN spoke to Phillips, and the director finally revealed how Joker would react upon seeing Batman. The answer has us cringing, to be honest:

I think Arthur would be in awe of the alpha male that is Batman. I really do. I think Arthur would look up and appreciate it. I think he’d be in awe of that.

I think Arthur always had a fascination with men at ease, and he is not a man at ease. [Robert De Niro’s] Murray Franklin in the first movie was a man at ease. He probably saw the guys he worked with as men at ease, and that was the one thing that Arthur could never be was a man at ease.

Phillips also once again confirmed that there won’t be ‘Joker 3,’ and the recently leaked movie’s ending sort of confirms that.

The comments to Phillips’ statement were pure gold:

All of a sudden Todd Phillips is some profound director. Basically ripped off Taxi Driver and let Phoenix drive the entire movie.

Wow. Say you don’t understand Batman without saying you don’t understand Batman.

Bats isn’t a man at ease or an alpha male. He’s a deeply broken person fighting a suicidal battle to make sure no one else has to suffer like he did. It’s only after a small army of sidekicks and allies join him that Batman starts to regain his humanity and be more than The Mission.

Also, all the alpha/beta/whatever stuff is even more BS than astrology.

“Would Be in Awe of the Alpha Male That is Batman” what in the cringe….

Between Phillips and that idiotic show runner for The Boys, I’m starting to wonder if either of them have read a single comic or watched any of the other films.
