Tom Holland is at this point MCU veteran, with three stand-alone movies under his belt and few appearances in other projects, he is practically an essential part of the MCU going forward.

The fourth ‘Spider-Man’ movie is currently in development, with plenty of interesting rumors in the mill. A few months back Holland made some interesting comments regarding his future as the iconic character, he said that he didn’t want to make a new movie if it wasn’t worth his time as far as the story goes, and it seems that his opinion changed somewhat, stating that he would always want to play more, but they do have a legacy to protect.

Holland discussed what’s next for Spider-Man in his latest Deadline interview:

The simple answer is that I’ll always want to do Spider-Man films. I owe my life and career to Spider-Man. So the simple answer is yes. I’ll always want to do more. We have the best in the business working toward whatever the story might be. But until we’ve cracked it, we have a legacy to protect. The third movie was so special in so many ways that we need to make sure we do the right thing.

Recently, some reports suggested that there is quite a battle regarding the theme of the upcoming installment. Feige wanted to take Spidey’s story to a more grounded and street-level ground while Watts, who is currently out of the picture as far as directing goes wanted to go “multiversal,” continuing the themes already started within the franchise.

Holland revealed however that this is the first time that he is directly part of the creative process:

This is the first time in this process that I’ve been part of the creative so early. It’s just a process where I’m watching and learning. It’s just a really fun stage for me. Like I said, everyone wants it to happen. But we want to make sure we’re not overdoing the same things. We’re figuring it out. We’re at that stage where it’s post-strike, so we’re waiting for those scripts to come in. We’re giving the writers the time they need to hit the ground running. But I’ve got a few projects that I’m really excited about and scripts are coming in now and they’re great. I read something the other day that absolutely blew my mind.

The last word on the streets is that Sam Raimi is in talks to direct the upcoming ‘Spider-Man 4,’ some fans are elated with this rumor while some are dreading what Raimi might do to the established franchise.

Recently it’s been confirmed that Zendaya will reprise her role alongside Holland. Have something to add? Let us know in the comments below!
