Spider-Man is one of the most popular superheroes ever created, and therefore we can always expect there will be a new movie or some other form of adaptation every once in a while. Spider-Man fans surely have a look to forward to because, apart from ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,’ this year we’re also getting the anticipated video game ‘Spider-Man 2’ for PS5, and we also know Tom Holland will eventually return as the web-slinger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Tom Holland rose to worldwide prominence in 2016 when he debuted as Spider-Man in ‘Captain America: Civil War.’ He reprised the role in two Avengers movies in 2018 and 2019, as well as his own Spider-Man trilogy that concluded in 2021 with ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ which grossed over $1.9 billion worldwide. Since Holland’s Spider-Man is one of the fan-favorite MCU characters, it’s no wonder that both Sony and Marvel Studios want to keep him for as long as possible, and while some rumors indicate that Holland signed for a new trilogy already, we officially know that only the untitled ‘Spider-Man 4’ is in development.

Tom Holland talks about the development of ‘Spider-Man 4’

The producer Amy Pascal recently shared that ‘Spider-Man 4’ has been in development for quite a while, but currently, it’s on hold of solidarity for the ongoing WGA strike. Holland is recently busy promoting his newest project, the Apple TV+ series ‘The Crowded Room.’ At the premiere event, Holland spared a few words about his next ‘Spider-Man’ movie, confirming what Pascal recently revealed.

“I can’t talk about that, but I can say that we have been having meetings. We’ve put the meetings on pause in solidarity with the writers. There’s been multiple conversations had, but at this point, it’s very, very early stages.”

Unlike other MCU projects that are currently in development, ‘Spider-Man 4’ has no official release date set. Although some sources say that Sony is eyeing August 2025 as the possible release window, Sony has more freedom than Marvel Studios with release dates considering they aren’t so tangled in their release schedule as Marvel Studios is. Still, we presume that Marvel Studios will need ‘Spider-Man 4’ to be released before some crossover events, but the definitive decision regarding the release date is on Sony alone.

If you are a fan of Spider-Man, there are plenty of things to be excited about in the future. While you are waiting for ‘Spider-Man 4’, you can experience ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ starting today, and next year, we’re getting another sequel, ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.’

Apart from that, this Fall, we’re getting the ‘Spider-Man 2’ video game and the ‘Kraven the Hunter’ movie set in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. Amy Pascal recently also announced that a live-action Miles Morales movie is also in development!
