Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Could Face RDJ’s Dr. Doom in a Symbiote Showdown

Spider-Man has one of the most intricate backstories of any superhero in the MCU, primarily because Sony, not Marvel Studios, owns the rights to the character. However, after Tom Holland took on the role, Sony and Marvel collaborated to produce three films featuring the young actor, integrating him into the MCU as a key character.

Following the events of “No Way Home,” the future of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man remains uncertain. While it’s confirmed he will appear in future films, how Marvel plans to continue his story in “Spider-Man 4” and integrate him into the upcoming “Doomsday” and “Secret Wars” movies is still unknown.

Amid the ongoing speculation and rumors, we’ve put together a new theory based on the “Secret Wars” comic book storyline. This theory suggests that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man might merge with a symbiote (potentially Venom) and face off against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom in the forthcoming Avengers movies.

Our theory draws on several clues from both the MCU and SSU movies, as well as the original “Secret Wars” comic book storyline, which is likely to be a key source of inspiration for the upcoming film. To summarize, “No Way Home” showed us that Tom Holland’s multiverse antics brought together all three Spider-Men. Eddie Brock also made a brief appearance, and while he was sent back to his universe, a fragment of the symbiote remained in the MCU. Since Brock comes from a universe where Spider-Man has yet to be introduced, Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock/Venom could still play a significant role in the future.

Currently, no one in the MCU remembers Peter Parker, and it will be intriguing to see how this detail is woven into upcoming movies. We have speculated that Holland’s Spider-Man might be pivotal due to his past connection with Tony Stark, but this hinges on whether the MCU decides to acknowledge the meta fact that Robert Downey Jr. might portray both Iron Man and Doctor Doom. If they do, it could create exciting opportunities for Holland’s character; if they don’t, it will be interesting to see how they proceed.

Regardless, with a fragment of Venom now in the MCU and the story heading towards Battleworld for “Secret Wars,” there’s a good chance that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will don a black suit, much like Tobey Maguire did, but under very different circumstances.

For context, the symbiotes, particularly Venom, were first introduced in the comics during “Secret Wars,” which was a major development at the time. While the MCU and SSU already have a Venom, so the introduction won’t be exactly the same, the writers might still draw from the comics to give Holland’s Spider-Man a black suit and potentially pit him against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.

We can’t be certain if this is how things will unfold, but our theory is grounded in comic book history and current rumors. What do you think? Would you like to see the story play out this way? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
