Upcoming ‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’ Allegedly Hit by Disney’s Internal Policies

Disney’s latest Star Wars project, The Acolyte, has been surrounded by numerous controversies and was heavily review-bombed since its premiere. Despite this, the series concluded after eight episodes, with its final episode redeeming the series for many fans.

Now, fans eagerly await more Star Wars content. The next major project is Star Wars: The Skeleton Crew, a series that promises to be vastly different from The Acolyte, especially since it focuses on children. Starring Jude Law, the series is expected to be released on December 3, 2024, but even now, there appear to be some issues with the production.

Specifically, insider reports suggest that Disney is not satisfied with the series. Although the exact reason remains unclear, some fans online speculate that it might be related to issues experienced with The Acolyte.

As mentioned, Skeleton Crew is the next major project in the Star Wars universe. Set in the same timeline as The Mandalorian, the series will feature Jude Law as an unnamed Force user alongside a cast of child actors. The official description reveals the following:

‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’ follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home—and meeting unlikely allies and enemies—will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.

Currently, no one outside of Disney executives has seen Skeleton Crew yet, but reports suggest that Disney’s top brass are not satisfied with the show. This is despite significant enthusiasm from the cast and fans, many of whom appreciate that the series does not appear to be “woke” like The Acolyte. However, some fans think this might be the underlying issue.

As previously mentioned, The Acolyte sparked considerable controversy online, with many fans upset over the show’s perceived wokeness and the inclusion of numerous non-Caucasian actors. Additionally, some fans were displeased that the showrunner was a woman and a member of the LGBT community, fearing it would influence the series.

While The Acolyte had its problems, the issues mentioned above reflect fans’ bigotry, which we do not support under any circumstances.

Nevertheless, as previously reported, Skeleton Crew might be facing challenges, with Disney executives allegedly dissatisfied with the show. It’s important to note that this has not been officially confirmed, and the reasons, if true, are not known. This is largely speculative. With that clarified, what are the fans saying?

Fans are pleased that Skeleton Crew appears not to be “woke” and speculate that this might be why Disney executives are allegedly dissatisfied with the story.

Of course, this reasoning isn’t very logical, as it is based on the following premises: The Acolyte was “woke” and Lucasfilm loved it; Lucasfilm doesn’t like Skeleton Crew; therefore, Skeleton Crew isn’t “woke,” and Lucasfilm dislikes it for that reason. This line of thinking is flawed, but fans can be hard to dissuade once they latch onto an idea.

These rumors might turn out to be false. Even if Lucasfilm doesn’t like Skeleton Crew, it could be because the show is simply not that good, not because it isn’t “woke.” Ultimately, we don’t even know if it’s “woke” or not, as no one except the executives has seen it yet. Regardless, the series is still set to be released later this year, when everyone can form their own opinions. Until then, stay tuned for more news and updates!
