Red Hulk is set to be the next big thing in the MCU. The character, played by Harrison Ford is set to appear in the upcoming ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ Anthony Mackie’s first solo movie as the character.

Harrison Ford got the role of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross after the unfortunate passing of William Hurt. The actor was already seen in promotional materials for the movie as well as his transformation into the Crimson Giant.

Now Variety recently published an article in which they claim that Ford will reprise his role as Red Hulk in the upcoming ‘Thunderbolts*’ movie as well. This came as quite a surprise to the fans but it seems like an exciting premise. But there’s one issue with it, Daniel Richtman, an industry insider with generally more or less accurate scoops claims that won’t happen and the character is 100 % not in the movie:

So, why is this newsworthy? It’s clear who the more reputable source is, but in this case, we have a good reason to side with Richtman on this one since Variety very obviously made a mistake.

The source for their claims is very old THR article back from when Ford’s casting was first revealed, at the time it seemed quite logical that Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross would have a significant connection to “Thunderbolts” – a team of anti-heroes that’s set to debut in the movie of the same name.

In the meantime, it’s been revealed that Thunderbolts won’t be named after Ross, instead the team will be named after Yelena’s and Natasha’s childhood football team. Yes, it’s quite confusing and quite frankly not a good idea since plenty of fans are not aware of this change and expect the team to be recruited by Ross.

By the looks of it, however, the team will have no connection to Ross and will instead be recruited by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine for ulterior reasons.

We can also confidently say that Red Hulk will likely not be in the movie, it’s crowded as it is.
