Less than two weeks stand between us and the release of ‘Venom: The Last Dance.’ It’s set to be the last movie in the trilogy and introduce some great things to the SSU – Knull, one of Marvel’s most powerful and dangerous villains.

Now since we’re getting closer to the movie’s release, some new details are being revealed. Primarily the movie’s rating. Fans were hoping that the first ‘Venom’ movie would be R-rated. This wasn’t the case as the movie was eventually rated PG-13.

Producer Matt Tolmach teased the “R” rating for the sequel, ‘Let There Be Carnage,’ and mentioned it as the possibility following the success of R-rated comic book films like ‘Joker’ (2019), ‘Deadpool’ (2016), and ‘Logan’ (2017).

However, he emphasized that the first ‘Venom’s’ PG-13 rating had been successful at the box office, and they wouldn’t alter the franchise’s tone just because it worked for other films. Ultimately, the sequel retained its PG-13 rating.

Now, the third time the charm right? The hopes are slim that the threequel will be “R” rated, but they are there, especially when we take into account the rating that the movie has gotten in the UK.

The upcoming ‘Venom’ threequel has received a “15” rating in the UK, which is similar to an R-rating in the U.S., but with key differences. In the UK, only those aged 15 and above can watch the movie, with no exceptions.

In contrast, the U.S. allows those under 17 to attend R-rated films with an adult. Most superhero movies in the UK receive a 12A rating, allowing children under 12 to watch with an adult, while an “18” rating is rarely used.

And before you ask, yes, both ‘Venom’ and ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ were rated 15 in the UK, meaning that this doesn’t change things much ultimately.

Based on the teasers, we can expect a lot of action, and based on Knull, we hope that the movie will ultimately be rated “R” although chances are slim.
