Regarding Venom: The Last Dance, we’ve previously discussed the challenges the film has faced since its release. Critics were harsh, while fans were more receptive. Although it has exceeded its initial budget, the domestic earnings remain low, leaving the film dependent on international markets for recovery.
According to Box Office Mojo, the film has grossed a total of $193,989,701, with $70,597,430 from the U.S. and $123,392,271 from international markets. While the numbers for this weekend are still pending, reports suggest that the film is performing well in Asia!
An Indian entertainment site, Koimoi, has reported that Venom: The Last Dance has crossed the $70 million mark at the Chinese box office, making it one of the top-performing comic book films in China. However, we advise taking this news with a grain of caution!
According to confirmed data from Box Office Mojo, Venom: The Last Dance earned $21,900,000 at the Chinese box office during its opening weekend (Friday to Sunday), with a notable increase in earnings from Saturday to Sunday. Now, Koimoi is reporting that the film has exceeded the $70 million mark this weekend, representing a significant boost compared to its predecessor.
While this 10-day performance is impressive, we must be transparent about our inability to fully verify this information. Regarding Koimoi as a source, we can’t assess their reliability for such exclusive reports, so we recommend taking this information with caution until it’s confirmed by a more authoritative source—though these numbers don’t seem entirely implausible.
If accurate, this would mean Venom: The Last Dance has surpassed the entire box office run of Deadpool & Wolverine, this year’s second-highest-grossing film in China, which made just under $60 million—an underwhelming figure. Furthermore, if these figures hold true, Venom: The Last Dance would also outpace Aquaman 2, Oppenheimer, and No Time to Die.
This could provide a substantial financial boost for the film, potentially leading Sony to consider it a success despite its low ratings. It’s clear that the audience has embraced the movie, thanks in large part to Tom Hardy’s charisma, which has consistently enhanced this trilogy.
His relationship with Venom adds depth, and the third installment has elevated the entire narrative in a meaningful way.
Venom: The Last Dance is still showing in theaters. Written and directed by Kelly Marcel, the film features Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock and Venom, alongside a talented cast that includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Stephen Graham, Peggy Lu, Clark Backo, Alanna Ubach, and Andy Serkis.
This film wraps up Sony’s Venom trilogy while paving the way for Knull as a potential future villain, whether in the SSU, the MCU, or both. The official synopsis of the movie is as follows:
In Venom: The Last Dance, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.
We genuinely hope that the recent reports from Asia, which are more up-to-date than ours, are accurate and that the film will ultimately achieve financial success for Sony. The story of Eddie Brock and Venom, despite its imperfections, deserves a fitting and triumphant conclusion.
