This summer’s SDCC and D23 have seen plenty of announcements related to the MCU franchise, and one of the most notable upcoming projects is ‘Thunderbolts*’ movie focusing on a group of anti-heroes from previous Marvel Studios projects who will band in a new team. Thunderbolts are often described as Marvel’s Suicide Squad and judging by the most recent trailer for the movie, you will definitely agree with this notion.
Yes, exclusive footage has been shown both during SDCC and D23 and now that footage has leaked online. It’s the full trailer in question and it showcases first looks into plenty of awesome things. You can check it out below.
In the footage, Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) visits her adoptive father, Red Guardian (David Harbour), to express her dissatisfaction with her work. The trailer then features a fight scene with Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), John Walker (Wyatt Russell), and Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko) set to The Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind.” They all end up in the same location, realizing they’re being pitted against each other.
The trailer introduces “Bob” (Lewis Pullman), the “Bob” in question can be no one else but Sentry as his logo and invulnerability are showcased in the trailer as well. Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julie Louis-Dreyfus) is shown meeting the team of assassins. It ends with a funny moment where Yelena advises her new allies to ignore Red Guardian’s ramblings.
The best part of the trailer is definitely the first look at Sentry, not much has been shown but we can see that he is bulletproof, and will presumably based on the belt buckle, have a costume toward the end of the movie. Speaking of costumes, it looks like Ghost and Taskmaster will have radically different costumes in the movie.
‘Thunderbolts*’ definitely looks promising, which many fans agreed, especially following somewhat difficult development marked by the SAG-AFTRA strike. ‘Thunderbolts*’ is currently set to be released in theaters on May 2, 2025.
