Vincent D’Onofrio is a well-known name in Hollywood, with standout roles like “Gomer” Pyle in Full Metal Jacket and Robert Goren in Law & Order: Criminal Intent. His portrayal of Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin, in Marvel’s television series, earned him a dedicated fan base.
While D’Onofrio is set to reprise his role in Daredevil: Born Again, he has expressed a keen interest in joining another major fictional universe: Warner’s DCU. Fans are buzzing with excitement as D’Onofrio has revealed his desire to take on a role in the DC universe, though it remains to be seen if this will come to fruition. This potential crossover has fans eager to see what could be an exciting development for both D’Onofrio and the DCU.
During a recent appearance at Dragon Con (via @JeremyJLop on X), Vincent D’Onofrio discussed his thoughts on comic book movies. While he expressed his appreciation for Marvel, given his current involvement with a Marvel project, he also revealed his passion for DC. D’Onofrio went on to share which DC character he would be excited to portray if the opportunity arose:
“I don’t know if you guys are into DC [Comics] like I am. Obviously, I’m into Marvel, too, because that’s my job. My comic books when I was a kid was Captain America, Spider-Man, Swamp Thing, and Batman. So Swamp Thing.”
This is certainly a significant development, and we genuinely believe that Vincent D’Onofrio would be fantastic as Swamp Thing in the DCU. We hope James Gunn is paying attention and that D’Onofrio gets his chance in the future. If you think we’re alone in this sentiment, just take a look at what the fans are saying—they’re all on board with this idea:
