Viola Davis takes on the role of U.S. President Danielle Sutton in the action-packed thriller G20, debuting on Prime Video on April 10, 2025. Directed by Patricia Riggen, the movie follows President Sutton as she fights to protect her family, her country, and world leaders during a high-stakes attack at the G20 summit.
The story shows Sutton outsmarting her enemies, using her courage and resourcefulness to survive. Davis, excited about the role, called it a childhood dream come true and described Sutton as a war hero turned liberal president—a truly heroic character.
At the Red Sea Film Festival, Davis shared that while the movie touches on some political themes, it’s mainly focused on delivering an exciting and entertaining experience.
The cast includes Anthony Anderson as Sutton’s husband Derek, Marsai Martin as her daughter Serena, and Christopher Farrar as her son Demetrius. Other stars include Ramón Rodríguez, Douglas Hodge, Elizabeth Marvel, Sabrina Impacciatore, Clark Gregg, and Antony Starr, known for playing Homelander in The Boys, as Rutledge.
Director Patricia Riggen promises an action-packed film that presents Davis like never before, taking viewers on an intense, modern thrill ride. Riggen has worked on projects like Under the Same Moon, Lemonade Mouth, and episodes of Jack Ryan and Dopesick.
The screenplay was written by Caitlin Parrish, Erica Weiss, and Logan and Noah Miller. The movie is a co-production by Amazon MGM Studios, MRC, Mad Chance Productions, and Davis’s own JuVee Productions. Producers include Davis, Julius Tennon, and Andrew Lazar.
With its gripping storyline and Davis’s powerful performance, G20 is set to captivate audiences worldwide when it premieres in over 240 countries.
