We Always Knew: Jar Jar Binks Has a Surprisingly High Kill Count for a “Harmless” Character

Speaking of the most hated Star Wars characters, it’s hard not to associate the “honor” with Jar Jar Binks. Introduced in ‘The Phantom Menace’ as a comic relief character, many fans found Jar Jar’s humor to be out of place or overly childish, clashing with the more serious and epic tone they expected from the franchise overall.

The character was so hated, that the actor who voiced him – Ahmed Best, was harassed non-stop by fans and even contemplated suicide at some point, due to harassment.

But, his mannerism and the way he spoke is not the only reason why Binks’ name makes our blood boil. Jar Jar bears sole responsibility for a significant plot point: in ‘Attack of the Clones,’ he proposed granting emergency powers to Chancellor Palpatine, which eventually led to the rise of the Galactic Empire. Due to this twist, fans have been convinced for quite some time that Jar Jar is in reality Sith Lord.

There are some convincing arguments that support this, such as using his “clumsy” movement to hide the fact that he is using the Force, he is from the same planet as Palpatine, his uncanny ability to understand the situation, giving off vibes that he is far smarter than we realized. Lastly, there’s Jar Jar Binks’ kill count.

Arguably, it’s hard to keep your kill count at exactly zero in a franchise called Star Wars, however, due to his potential lethal inclinations Jar Jar Binks managed to rank 52nd with 38 recorded kills (keep in mind that the list comprises nearly 200 names).

Jar Jar Binks was responsible for several deaths across Star Wars media according to Kill count wiki. In ‘The Phantom Menace,’ he accidentally kills seven droids and a droideka with his “clumsiness.” In ‘Star Wars Adventures,’ he eats a bat-like creature.

In ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars,’ he slices three battle droids in half with a lightsaber and causes the deaths of 27 individuals, including a Stone Guardian and several cultists, through accidental or indirect actions. Overall, he is responsible for 38 deaths, mostly through mishaps rather than intentional acts.

Well, the last part is still being debated….shockingly enough, Jar Jar apparently has a higher kill count than Moff Gideon.
