Ultron may be gone for now, but we’ve seen alternate versions of him pop up in Disney+’s What If…? and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, he’s confirmed to return in the upcoming Vision Quest series.
We’re still in the dark about how exactly Ultron will fit into the story, but James Spader is set to reprise his role. Interestingly, a recent Marvel comic series has introduced a fresh angle for the villain’s comeback, one that could work really well for the MCU.
If you’re into Marvel comics, you might have heard that the new West Coast Avengers #1 hit shelves today. Written by Gerry Duggan with art from Danny Kim and Arthur Hesli, this comic is already getting fans talking. Here’s the synopsis:
ULTRON RETURNS…REDEEMED? Iron Man and War Machine have put together a new team of Avengers – one that includes villains seeking a path to redemption. Their case study? Ultron – who, against all odds, seems to be walking the straight and narrow…for now. But does the success of one guarantee the success of all? Spider-Woman and Firestar have their doubts. And can any amount of heroics really absolve Ultron of his past?
In this new series, Ultron returns with some surprising changes to his character. While we won’t dive into spoilers, it’s clear that this storyline could give the MCU team some inspiration for their take on the character.
From what we know, Ultron’s return in Vision Quest will likely feature the original version from Avengers: Age of Ultron, not the alternate versions seen in other projects. How Marvel plans to bring him back or what role he’ll play remains a mystery, but the comic’s unique approach could help shape his MCU story.
There’s even a chance we might see a more complex side of Ultron. While the comics don’t suggest he’ll turn into a full-fledged hero, it opens up the possibility of him joining forces with the Avengers, maybe even against Doctor Doom in future movies. This adds a lot of exciting potential for the MCU.
We’ll keep an eye on any updates, so stay tuned! Have thoughts or theories? Share them in the comments below!
