What Did Rio Vidal Do That Left Her With a Lasting “Scar”?

The fourth episode of ‘Agatha All Along’ was recently released. This week the coven was faced with Trial by Fire, and Rio Vidal joined them due to their original Green Witch, Sharon, dying.

Now thanks to the Marvel merch leak, we know that Rio Vidal is not only a Green Witch, but she is also Lady Death.

The hints that point toward this have been scattered in the fourth episode starting with the fact that Rio is likely meant to kill Agatha by the end of the show and ending with Agatha pleading with Rio not to take Teen’s life while he was seriously injured.

Now we already theorized that Agatha made some kind of a deal either with Rio or some other malignant entity and now Rio is ready to collect. But, by the end of the episode, we learn that whatever happened in the past between Agatha and Death hurt Rio very much, so much that it left a lasting scar.

After the Teen managed to recover with Jennifer’s help from his life-threatening glass injury, the witches sat down around the fire to rest and unwind. They started to brag about their battle scars, and Agatha mentioned that her long elbow scar could be thanked to the Daughters of Liberty, confirming the team’s existence in the MCU.

Rio decided to share her story about her own scar, in a very cryptic way:

Rio: I’ve got a scar. […] A long time ago, I loved someone. And I had to do something that I did not wanna do, even though it was my job. And it hurt them. She is my scar.

Based on things Rio has revealed and her knowledge of both Agatha’s past and her son, we can conclude that Rio was the one who “reaped” Agatha’s son away from her. This would however mean that Agatha did not sacrifice her son for Darkhold willingly, it’s possible that something happened to Nicholas Scratch, Rio was the one to “kill him,” which caused the two of them to go their own separate ways since it hurt too much.

It’s also possible that Agatha, a long time ago, made a deal with Mephisto or someone else to spare her son’s life and now Rio is back to collect her dues.

In any case, we can’t know for sure now, but whatever happened in the past ruined their relationship and seemingly ruined Agatha’s son as she seemingly can’t get over the fact and is constantly bombarded by clues related to her son.

It’s possible that whoever Agatha made a deal with, returned Nicholas back to life in the form of Agatha’s pet rabbit which would mean that her child is only technically alive, but Agatha is still required to pay the price.

This is often how dealing with the devil works, you never ultimately get what you bargained for. How Teen is involved with this? It remains to be seen, however, his identity was likewise confirmed via the same merch leak as that of Wiccan, Wanda’s reincarnated son.
