Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania might not have blown away the critics, nor the box office numbers, but fans were generally pleased with the film. The third Ant-Man film gave us a better insight into Kang the Conqueror, kickstarted the Kang Dynasty, and much more. So, for those who missed it in theaters (or want to rewatch it), when is Ant-Man 3 coming to Disney Plus?

Ant-Man 3 is likely coming to Disney Plus sometime in mid-to-late April or, at the latest, early May. If we look at other MCU movies before Ant-Man 3, an average Disney Plus arrival span is about 70 days, and Ant-Man 3 is on track to hit that mark. However, it has been announced that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will get a digital-only release on DVD and Blu-Ray on April 18th, followed by the Blu-ray and 4K release on May 16.

I doubt it’ll take longer due to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arriving in theaters on May 5, 2023. Therefore, Ant-Man 3 will likely arrive on the platform before, as it’s common practice for MCU movies to arrive on Disney Plus before the next movie arrives in theaters. Let’s check out how it usually works to make an educated guess.

Ant-Man 3: A brief synopsis

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania had the best box-office opening out of all Ant-Man films but then flopped and crashed in the following weeks. Still, it’s a nice sequel to a fan-favorite franchise that’s worth a watch – perhaps not as a stand-alone flick but as a vital part of the future of the MCU.

The story begins when Scott Lang finds out that his daughter (under the watchful eye of Hank Pym and Hope van Dyne) experimented with a self-made gadget, allowing them to contact and send signals down to the Quantum Realm. At first, everyone’s amazed, but Janet van Dyne freaks out, instructing them to shut the device down.

She never told them why or what she experienced in the Quantum Realm – but they soon find out, as the device pulls them in and takes them to the Quantum Realm. There, they realize that the Realm is a universe much more developed than they ever thought.

Janet finally shares why she never speaks of the Quantum Realm – it’s because of Kang the conqueror – or one of his variants, that was trapped inside the Quantum Realm for decades and used his technological expertise to completely take over while trying to get out.

The fight boils over, and that version of Kang is seemingly defeated, but it culminates in the other Kang variants regrouping, essentially kickstarting the Kang Dynasty.

Apart from that hugely important fact for the future of the MCU, we also saw Scott’s daughter, Cassie, getting her own Ant-suit and essentially becoming a hero as well. That’s why I believe Ant-Man 3 will have major implications for the future of the MCU and why it’s important to watch the film before the following projects arrive.

When was Ant-Man 3 released?

Ant-Man 3 was released in theaters across the world on February 17, 2023. The director, Peyton Reed, was confirmed as the director of Ant-Man 3 way back in November 2019. The movie was set to be released sometime in early 2022.

However, the global pandemic pushed back virtually every project, including the MCU, so it’s logical that Ant-Man 3 was also pushed back, eventually released on February 17, 2023.

That being said, some plot points, scripts, and the movie’s subtitle files were leaked to r/MArvelStudiosSpoilers on Reddit in January 2023. After that, Marvel Studios filed a request to issue a subpoena to Reddit to identify the people (or a person) responsible for the leak, and after that, the subreddit was closed off from the public.

When will Ant-Man 3 arrive on Disney+?

Seeing that there’s still no official release date for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania to arrive on Disney Plus, all we can do is take a look at previous MCU movies and make an educated guess about Ant-Man 3’s arrival on the platform.

An average of sorts for MCU movies to arrive on Disney Plus is about 70 days. The bare minimum is 45 days after the theatrical release, but we’re already past that juncture for Ant-Man 3, and the movie that came the closest to that mark was Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Thor: Love and Thunder took 64 days, Eternals took 68, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings took 70 days, and then Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Black Widow took 82 and 89 days to arrive on Disney Plus, respectively.

With all that being said, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will likely fall somewhere into that time span between 65 and 75 days from its theatrical release, meaning we can expect it to arrive on Disney Plus sometime in mid-to-late April 2023.

The latest I believe the movie could be released is before May 5, 2023. I highly doubt that Disney Plus will wait longer, as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be released in theaters on that particular date, so they’ll likely release Ant-Man 3 on Disney Plus earlier.
