Despite the fact that Ahsoka has become one of the most prominent characters in Star Wars, especially because she is getting her own series entitled ‘Ahsoka,’ one of the things that fans noticed was that she wasn’t around during the events of ‘Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith’ even though the events of ‘Star Wars: Clone Wars’ happened earlier. So, where was Ahsoka during ‘Revenge of the Sith?’

Ahsoka was on Mandalore during the events of ‘Revenge of the Sith.’ She was there on a mission to help Bo-Katan Kryze liberate the planet from Darth Maul and the Shadow Collective. When Order 66 was initiated, Ahsoka was on her way back to Coruscant with an arrested Maul.

Many fans wondered where Ahsoka was when Anakin needed her during the ‘Revenge of the Sith.’ But the truth was that she was off fighting her own battles in a mission that involved liberating the entire planet of Mandalore. This was all revealed in the finale episode of ‘Clone Wars.’ Now, let’s look at what Ahsoka was doing during the events of ‘Revenge of the Sith.’

Did Ahsoka exist in ‘Revenge of the Sith?’

‘Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith’ is arguably the most important Star Wars movie ever because it detailed the events that led to the original trilogy. In ‘Revenge of the Sith,’ we saw how Chancellor Palpatine was able to manipulate Anakin Skywalker to fall to the dark side of the Force. As such, we saw the Jedi Order’s fall, the Empire’s rise, and the birth of Luke and Leia in that movie. Of course, ‘Revenge of the Sith’ occurred three years after ‘Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.’

Between ‘Attack of the Clones’ and ‘Revenge of the Sith,’ there was this huge galactic war called the Clone Wars. The events of the Clone Wars were given life in the animated storyline of ‘Star Wars: Clone Wars,’ which started with a 2008 movie before it expanded into an entire series.

During the events of the Clone Wars, Anakin acted as the master to a young Jedi Padawan named Ahsoka Tano, who was noticeably absent in ‘Revenge of the Sith’ even though the animated movie and series happened before Episode III as far as the in-universe timeline is concerned.

But fans should understand that Ahsoka was never conceived as a character before she was introduced in the Clone Wars movie in 2008. Meanwhile, ‘Revenge of the Sith’ was released in 2005. So, as far as the real-world timeline is concerned, Ahsoka wasn’t even created by Clone Wars creator and director Dave Filoni during the time that ‘Revenge of the Sith’ was being filmed.

What was Ahsoka doing during ‘Revenge of the Sith?’

Even though Ahsoka was yet to exist as a character during the events of ‘Revenge of the Sith,’ we know that she was Anakin’s Padawan during the time of the Clone Wars. That means that she preceded the events of ‘Revenge of the Sith’ in the in-universe timeline. But where was she during the events of ‘Revenge of the Sith?’

Many fans wondered where Ahsoka was during the events of ‘Revenge of the Sith’ and what she was doing when Anakin was struggling with his inner darkness and Obi-Wan was battling the remaining Separatists. Some fans thought that she died during the Clone Wars. But she was confirmed to have survived the Clone Wars when she appeared in ‘Star Wars: Rebels,’ which happened more than a decade after the events of ‘Revenge of the Sith.’

Ahsoka Tano Is Not a Grey Jedi! Here’s Why

The fifth season of ‘Clone Wars’ revealed that Ahsoka was not with the Jedi Order during the events of ‘Revenge of the Sith’ because she left the Jedi on her own accord after she felt betrayed by the Jedi Council. As such, fans thought she was away from the battlefield the entire time. But the truth was that she was fighting her own battles while Anakin and Obi-Wan were busy during ‘Revenge of the Sith.’

Just before the Battle of Coruscant took place, Bo-Katan Kryze approached Ahsoka for help because she wanted someone to assist her in her battle against Darth Maul and the Shadow Collective, which had taken Mandalore over. Because Bo-Katan agreed to allow Mandalore to join the Republic, the Republic sent a small group led by Ahsoka and Captain Rex to Mandalore to arrest Maul and end the Shadow Collective.

The Siege of Mandalore occurred around the same time as the events of ‘Revenge of the Sith.’ As such, while Anakin was battling his inner darkness when Palpatine tried to convince him to turn to the dark side to save Padmé from death, Ahsoka was on Mandalore.

Ahsoka eventually defeated Maul and the Shadow Collective. The Republic forces arrested Maul and allowed Bo-Katan to sit as the new leader of Mandalore. Meanwhile, Ahsoka was on her way back to Coruscant on the ship called the Tribunal with Maul in her custody just before Order 66 was initiated.

Palpatine had just survived Mace Windu’s attack by luring Anakin down the path of the dark side. Ahsoka felt this disturbance in the Force because of her bond with Anakin. That was when Palpatine initiated Order 66 to force the clones to kill all of the Jedi without hesitation. And the inhibitor chips inside their heads made them comply with the Chancellor’s directive.

As such, Ahsoka had to fight her way through the clones while she was on a ship bound for Coruscant. She had to free Maul from his imprisonment so that he could help her escape the ship, as he already knew beforehand that Order 66 was going to happen. Ahsoka also assisted in the removal of Captain Rex’s inhibitor chip. Rex helped Ahsoka and Maul escape the ship, as they were all believed to have been killed when the Tribunal was destroyed.

Where was Ahsoka Tano during the Original Trilogy?

We know that Ahsoka survived Order 66. She decided to keep a low profile while hiding out on a rural planet during the reign of the Empire. But when an Inquisitor found her and managed to cause some trouble in the planet she was hiding on, she returned to action as one of the agents that worked for Bail Organa.

As such, Ahsoka secretly assisted the Rebels during the events of ‘Star Wars: Rebels,’ which took place just a few years before the events of the original Star Wars trilogy. In ‘Rebels,’ Ahsoka was believed to have been killed by Darth Vader on Malachor when they dueled on the ancient Sith planet. But Ezra used the World Between Worlds to save Ahsoka from Vader.

Upon her exit from the World Between Worlds, Ahsoka saw her bird companion, Morai, who was connected to the Daughter, whom Ahsoka met on Mortis many years ago. Morai led Ahsoka to another door that led to the World Between Worlds. The next time Ahsoka was seen was when the Rebels were celebrating the destruction of the Death Star II during the final moments of ‘Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.’

As such, Ahsoka spent years on a spiritual journey in the World Between Worlds when Luke, Leia, and Han were battling the Empire during the events of the original trilogy. This explains her absence from the meat of the Rebellion era of Star Wars even though she had been actively assisting the Rebels before the events of the original trilogy.
