The most important character in the storyline of Star Wars is, no doubt, Anakin Skywalker because his story was the one that launched the entire Skywalker Saga. In that regard, we know that his lightsaber has also been quite important because of how iconic of a weapon it is in the hands of some of the most iconic protagonists in Star Wars. But while his second lightsaber was the most iconic, he also used several other lightsabers. So, what lightsaber colors did Anakin Skywalker use?

Anakin Skywalker’s personal lightsabers were always blue when he was with the Jedi Order. At one point, he had to use a green lightsaber during the First Battle of Geonosis after his first one got destroyed. He eventually replaced that one with another blue lightsaber.

While there may be a lot of different lightsaber colors in the storyline of Star Wars, the thing is that Anakin has always favored blue or is more attuned to this lightsaber color. Of course, this is why the lightsaber that was eventually passed down to Luke and then to Rey were both blue, as this saber was originally Anakin’s. So, with that said, let’s look at the lightsaber colors that Anakin Skywalker used.

Anakin always used a blue lightsaber

Throughout the storyline of Star Wars, there has only been one character whose entire story and legacy had an impact on all nine of the main movies. We are talking about Anakin Skywalker, who was the very same person that launched the Skywalker Saga of Star Wars and was responsible for all of the drama that happened right after he was found by Qui-Gon Jinn on Tatooine back in the events of ‘Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.’

Of course, one of the things that people know is that Anakin may not have had a large impact on the events in the sequel trilogy. But let’s not forget that both Rey and Ben Solo used his lightsaber during the events of the entire trilogy. And Kylo Ren also tried to live up to Darth Vader’s legacy, only for him to live up to Anakin’s legacy by using his lightsaber.

Called the Skywalker Lightsaber, Anakin’s lightsaber is the single most iconic lightsaber in the entire storyline. And from the very start until the end, this lightsaber was always blue because Anakin always preferred to use a blue lightsaber.

When Obi-Wan Kenobi first took in Anakin as a Jedi Padawan, he searched for his own Kyber crystal and used this crystal to forge his very own lightsaber. The Kyber crystal he attuned with most likely changed itself to the color blue, and that’s why Anakin’s first lightsaber was blue.

Anakin used this lightsaber for around seven years until the events that led to the First Battle of Geonosis. In ‘Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones,’ Anakin and Padmé went to Geonosis to rescue Obi-Wan, who Count Dooku and the Separatists had captured.

While navigating his way through the Geonosis droid factory, Anakin’s lightsaber got destroyed by one of the machines, and he realized that he was in trouble because Kenobi always told him that his lightsaber was his life.

Shortly after the First Battle of Geonosis, Anakin made another lightsaber that soon became known as the Skywalker Lightsaber. Unlike his first lightsaber, his second lightsaber was never destroyed. But we all know that he eventually lost this lightsaber.

What color was Anakin’s second lightsaber?

Anakin’s second lightsaber also had a blue blade like the first lightsaber. It is possible that this lightsaber’s Kyber crystal turned out blue again. But it is also possible that Anakin simply tinkered with the lightsaber to turn the blade blue. That’s because we know he did the same with Ahsoka’s lightsabers when he tinkered with them to turn their green blades blue.

Regardless of why the second lightsaber is blue, it turned out to be the most iconic of all time because it was the same one that Luke Skywalker first used before he forged his own lightsaber.

Anakin lost his saber to Obi-Wan Kenobi during the Duel on Mustafar, and Kenobi passed the saber on to Luke 19 years later. Luke lost the lightsaber in his first duel with Vader on Bespin, and it somehow ended up in the hands of Maz Kanata, who passed the saber on to Rey, who eventually passed it on to Ben Solo.

The blue Skywalker Lightsaber eventually got retired on Tatooine after Rey defeated Palpatine using the sabers of both Anakin and Leia. She forged her own yellow lightsaber instead of relying on the iconic Skywalker Lightsaber that Anakin created a few years before he fell to the dark side and became Darth Vader. Of course, it goes without saying that Vader used a red lightsaber.

Did Anakin Skywalker ever use a green lightsaber?

One of the things that we know about Luke Skywalker is that, while he did use Anakin’s iconic blue lightsaber, he also used his own lightsaber, which he created after he lost the Skywalker Lightsaber on Bespin. However, Anakin also used a green lightsaber at one point in time. And we have to go back to the First Battle of Geonosis.

After he lost his first lightsaber on Geonosis, Anakin and Padmé were captured by the Separatists and were forced to battle wild beasts as their form of execution. After they defeated the beasts, Dooku ordered droids to execute Anakin, Padmé, and Obi-Wan, only for the Jedi Order to arrive on time to stop the execution.

As the Jedi were about to fight the Separatist droids, Anakin acquired a green-bladed lightsaber handed to him by another Jedi named Nicanas Tassu. However, while Anakin did indeed use a green lightsaber, he lost this lightsaber just moments later when Count Dooku defeated him in their first duel.
