Who Could Play Batman in the DCU? Here’s Our Four Safest Bets

Share:

When James Gunn & Peter Safran rebooted DCEU and renamed it into DCU we knew that pretty much most of the cast would be replaced. Ben Affleck also made it quite clear that he is not interested in playing Batman further and Robert Pattison’s Batman was part of the Elseworlds, meaning that he was never canon to the primary cinematic universe.

Now with pretty much 99 % of ‘Superman’ cast, the rumors have it that Batman is the next in line to be cast, and we have three contenders who are practically begging to be cast.

1. Glen Powell

Glen Powell already stated he’s not interested in playing superhero roles, Marvel movies, or Oscar-bait movies BUT he did admit he would love to play Batman. The actor also stated that he wouldn’t be doing Batman in Matt Reeves’ tone but he would like to portray something akin to Keaton’s Batman. He certainly has the physique for it, but the chances seem low since the actor is ready to retire from Hollywood and return to his family.

2. Alan Ritchson

Ritchson wasn’t exactly coy about wanting to play Batman, he recently quite literally told us that he is willing to shout it from the rooftops. Ritchson has the physique (and the voice) to play him, and he has quite a large fanbase willing to petition for him. Ritchson said it would be quite an honor to play The Dark Knight since he is smart, his superpower is intelligence and additionally, he has loads of gadgets and supercars.

Ritchson is currently the #1 fan cast for the role.

3. Jensen Ackles

Jensen Ackles was picked for the most recent fan-made concept trailer to don the mantle of the Dark Knight alongside Timothee Chalamet as Robin. Ackles already voices the character in ‘Tomorowverse’ and he expressed his wish to play the live-action version of the character as well. Like Ritchson, Ackles has everything needed to play him.

4. Winston Duke

Winston is no stranger to superhero movies, and he’s made it known that he would like to play the caped crusader as well. He is also quite aware of what kind of stir that would cause since the mainline version of Batman both in the comics and in different adaptations has always been white. Still, Winston is persistent and made his fans know he wants to get that role.

Listen, man, can you start that [campaign]? [Laughs] I would say I challenge you to get on all these socials and push for me. Get your community. I would love to. I would love to do that as Batman. I’d love any opportunity to explore new characters, to change narratives around some of these entrenched ideas of how these characters are supposed to look, sound, and perform. I’m all for it.
