Why Can’t the Teen Say His Own Name in ‘Agatha All Along’?

Agatha All Along, the highly anticipated MCU spin-off from WandaVision, has undergone several name changes before settling on its current title, and surprisingly, it stuck. The series finally premiered on Disney+ on September 18, 2024, with the first two episodes, and the remaining seven will drop weekly until the series concludes on November 6.

While Kathryn Hahn’s return as Agatha Harkness is expected to dominate the series, fans are also excited about the potential appearances of other major MCU characters, which we’ve explored in past rumor reports. However, one character, in particular, has captured the attention of viewers—Joe Locke’s “Teen.”

Despite recent speculation that the trailers may have unintentionally revealed Teen’s true identity, the show continues to keep his name a mystery. The series cleverly adds to the intrigue by making Teen unable to say his own name, and in this report, we’ll dive into why that might be.

As you’re aware, the Teen—whom we’ll continue calling that for now—has quickly become one of the most intriguing characters in the series. Joe Locke shines in the role, and his own comments about the show and his character have only fueled fan excitement. While the series officially refers to him as “the Teen,” a recent development has added even more to the mystery:

Fans have been speculating about the Teen’s true identity for some time, with many convinced that he is Billy Maximoff, aka Wiccan, Wanda’s son. The subtitles in the trailers seemed to confirm this theory, and while fans expected the series to quickly reveal and explore his existence, that hasn’t happened yet.

The show continues to keep the Teen’s identity under wraps. While we’d be surprised if he turns out to be anyone other than Wiccan (the timeline fits, leaks hint at it, both characters are gay, and so much points in that direction), the mystery remains intact.

The out-of-universe explanation for why the Teen can’t say his name is to maintain this suspense. But what’s the in-universe reason? Though the show hasn’t confirmed it yet, the most likely explanation is that the Teen is under a spell or curse.

This would account for the strange letter that appears over his mouth and the oddly specific nature of his inability to speak his name. What spell? We’ll have to wait for the series to reveal more!
