2024 has so far, been dry in terms of big superhero theatric releases, we had ‘Madame Web’ released back in February followed by a few months of silence, and then the biggest release of the year, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ back in July. Now, until the year is over we can look forward to ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ on October 4th, ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ on October 25th, and ‘Kraven the Hunter’ on December 13.

Now some of these movies have already shifted their release date, and with such a crowded schedule, there are bound to be some box office losers.

Since MCU has released a single movie this year, 2025 will try to make up for it, we have the upcoming release of ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ on February 14, ‘Thunderbolts*’ on May 2, and ‘Fantastic Four’ on July 25th. There’s also the upcoming release of ‘Blade’ as the movie’s release date is still scheduled as November 7, 2025, but we seriously doubt that it’s going to be finished by then.

To make matters worse, James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ is kicking off a live-action portion of DCU on July 11, 2025. As you can see, it’s a crowded schedule, and now a new issue is presenting itself for the movie, the fact that it’s releasing along with two other hits, ‘Fantastic Four’ and ‘Jurassic World: Rebirth’ scheduled to be released on July 2, 2025.

Superman is a massive character, one of the most popular characters in fiction in general, but ‘Fantastic Four’ and ‘Jurassic franchises are not exactly small franchises either, and based on marketing reception and all, subjectively, ‘First Steps’ generates much more positive feedback than what we’ve seen with leaked ‘Superman’ set photos, videos and promotional materials.

The ‘Jurassic’ franchise has been a major commercial success, with its films consistently performing well at the box office and achieving significant global revenue. The franchise also has a wider pool of potentially interested viewers.

One movie will definitely have to move its release date, as this situation has been called a three-way “Barbenheimer.” Fans agree, that it should definitely be ‘Superman.’

Some fans however have a more positive outlook:

What do you think? Which movie should move its release date?
